I understand the difficulty. The bottom line is that the entire management level of the FBI and the DOJ is totally rotten. Essentially Barr would be left with no one to manage the DOJ.
Fire one, another maybe worse moves into his place.
I think President Trump and Barr will make their move shortly after the first of the year but it will not be easy.
Also there will be many court cases challenging his actions in terminating the guilty so it best wait until his judicial appointees are seated and ready to go to work.
