The Seattle Times (Crystal Paul) reports:
'Community members including transgender locals and trans allies have inundated the Seattle Public Library with calls and emails, asking the library system to cancel an upcoming event hosted by the Women's Liberation Front—a self-described "radical feminist organization" that has publicly espoused what critics call anti-trans views.
The group's event, titled "Fighting the New Misogyny: A Feminist Critique of Gender Identity," is publicized as "a critical analysis of gender identity" that will "make powerful arguments for sex-based women's rights," according to the event page.'
The law here is clear: When a library opens space for private groups to meet, it creates a "limited public forum," in which the library may "not discriminate against a speaker's viewpoint." Ninth Circuit precedent (Faith Center Church Evangelistic Ministries v. Glover (9th Cir. 2006)) so holds, dictated by the Supreme Court's broader First Amendment law, which has dealt with such programs in public schools and universities.
Viewpoint-neutral content discrimination in such limited public fora may be constitutional; for instance, the Ninth Circuit controversially held that a library may decline to open up its property to "pure religious worship" (though it may not exclude religious viewpoints on topics on which secular viewpoints are allowed). But viewpoint-based discrimination, such as the exclusion of messages that convey supposedly hateful or offensive or dangerous ideas, is unconstitutional (see Matal v. Tam (2017), which makes clear that discrimination against supposedly disparaging ideas or language is viewpoint-discrimination).

No, not a flaw. A return to tribal moral systems and practices.
Social justice jihadis are appropriating Islam’s tribal morality and the Indian caste system. That each person’s worth is based on skin color, ancestry and belief system.
They all also equate violation of social norms with literal violence. For societies on the edge of survival, you punished illegitimate births severely because families couldn’t afford children that didn’t have a dedicated father to feed it. And you punished disruptions to social order because it so often led to murder.
The equating of speech with violence justifies violence to silence non-PC speech. It is the emotional foundation for blasphemy laws and killing the infidel who doesn’t hide their evil unbelief. It also justifies violence against those who don’t adhere to the dress code, speech code and behavioral rules. Hence the death threats against TERFs and a rape shelter in Canada getting defunded and vandalized for sending a mentally ill man in a dress away.
The American Library Association is PUSHING drag queen story time in the name of tolerance. It is sexual imprinting on children. That there have been known sex offenders getting close to kids this way (two in Houston alone) is irrelevant to them.
The “bathroom debate” is facetious. It isn’t just bathrooms. It is locker rooms, changing rooms, women’s shelters, dorms. That a woman is an evil bigot to be bullied by liberals if she doesn’t want a mentally ill man walking naked through the women’s shower. And we know that’s the ultimate goal, because a mentally ill teen man got liberal help suing a school district for telling him to shower in a separate corner with a curtain. He had to be naked in front of girls to be “equal”.
And this IS mostly about real men. 75%+ of transgenders are men, and less than a quarter have the male plumbing removed. Thus two thirds of these cases are dudes in dresses saying you’re an evil meanie if you don’t want me in your daughter’s locker room leering at her.
Oh, and most of these men ARE attracted to women. That’s why lesbians are having such a hard time. Most of the biological men identify as women and are attracted TO women. Thus the women attracted to women bullied for the “cotton ceiling”, refusing to have sex with dudes in dresses who say “I’m a woman, too.”

This shows the insanity of identity trumping biological reality. Sex segregated bathrooms are a human right. While the UN and charities say women should have separate latrines and lighting to minimize the risk of rape ... liberals in the West say we have to let biologically intact mentally ill men and predators posing as such into spaces segregated for women’s privacy and literal protection.
I agree with you. My point was that the theory and practice of the SJW intersectionality theory is doomed by the conflicting priorities of each grievance group. Feminism vs. transgenders is only one example.
Given what’s coming in the next few years with regards to the “rights” of some protected classes infringing on the “rights” of other protected classes, it might be a good idea to invest in popcorn futures.

Leave my library alone. I read at least four books a week cuz tv sux, get them all at the library.
The other library in town had a cross-dresser event with kids and I objected. But my little branch doesn’t do stuff like that.....in fact, they recommended several new books on what really happened at Nazi concentration camps.
So typical of King County government and Seattle.

I agree, Miss Marmelstein. The majority of people, including self-identified conservatives, do not want any external limits or even cultural judgments on their sexual behavior. The trans-madness, which involves a tiny minority, is 100% tied to the majority's embrace of fornication.
If you have trouble figuring this one out we are in worse trouble than even I thought.

I agree. It’s astounding how open people are about sexual immorality, even as they vigorously denigrate those who are one step further along the continuum of “anything goes.”
