This is an incredible story of a hard working American, the likes of which we could use more of. (It begins at 6:50).
What did those kids ever do to him?
I hope some of them get an education that’s more useful than hateful.
They’d be millionaires, too if he’d just taught them carpentry.
Show me another country where this could happen. Please.
Nice story but is it true?

Yes.
I worked construction worn jeans out regularly
Ernest Hemingway radio, Wasn’t that guy a communist?
33 kids to college? Did he ever keep those jeans on?
(And no, I didn’t read the story.)
At first I didn’t get your post. But after engaging my brain I realize that it is a pretty accurate thought.

Fair question. But the phrase “the Sun also rises” comes from Ecclesiastes 1:5. Hemingway called one of his books that, but that doesn’t give him a monopoly on the biblical wisdom of that passage.
I worked construction in Denver...
The so called dumb Mexicans were sending there kids to apprentice schools for electricians, plumbers, elevator workers, pipe fitters, etc..not to dumb..good jobs and you get paid while you learn..
Pgrobably True! Look up Osceola McCarty. She left $160,000 to Southern Mississippi University. People in the town then gave $300,00 more . Oseolas generosity inspired Ted Turner to give $1 billion to Charity..
$91K per kid, which ended up in the pockets of people like professor Elizabeth Warren ($400,000+ salary, plus benefits) and administrator Michelle Obama ($273,618 salary, plus benefits).
If not for the greed and laundering of the schools, that would have been enough school money for 1000 kids.
