How did you post this without your password?

Obligatory “Are you logged in?”

Short answer, I don’t know. Longer answer, if there is a way a FReeper will be by soon to walk you through it.

FReepers are AWESOME!

Best of luck!

Are you talking about your Microsoft account password?

It sounds like one computer is still logged in while the other one is not.

I have it on my old laptop.

I still need Jim or someone to email my password so I can set up the new laptop.
I turned 70 and can’t remember a thing.

HELP!

You don’t have access to your laptop?

Is there a “forgot password” option on your sign-in screen?

Use the computer you are on and go to the top of the main page and click “Account”.

Then click on “Edit Account”.

Then click on “Login password”.

I am not sure if it will show you your password or not.

I think you have a Mac laptop. . . To reset a Macbook laptop’s passwords, hold down the Command + the “R” key while booting. This brings you to the Recovery Mode. Under the menu bar, invoke the “Terminal” by finding the Utilities drop down Menu/Utilities. When the Terminal window appears, type in the following as one word:

“resetpassword”

Do not include the quotation marks. Press return.

This will bring up a menu of users of your computer. Select the user for whom you have forgotten the password and then enter a new password.

Do this for any admin account you may have also forgotten the password for.

Once you have done this, you can reboot and log in to your user with the new password.

You may also have to enter the new password later for your Keychain.

It looks like you don’t need your old password to change it. At the top of the home page, go to account, and then edit account. then edit logon.

You probably can't party like a 60-year old anymore, either. I feel your pain.

Download Lastpass on both your PC and phone. There’s a free version. Never lose a password again (unless you lose your Lastpass password, then you’re screwed).

FReepMail JimRob, and explain your predicament. (Sending your request from within FR establishes your bona fides.)

Incude a copy of your e-mail address, and ask that the password be sent there.

And, if you can, include a donation to FR...

Good luck!

Sounds like you’re talking about your Free Republic password?

On the computer you can’t log in on, go to FR’s login screen, click the “Forgotten your screen name or password?” link and then enter your email address. FR will send you a link where you can RESET (i.e. change) your FR password. For security they never send anyone your existing password.

Please consider using a good password manager like 1Password, LastPass, or Dashlane to keep a record of your passwords. And make sure you have recorded your master password somewhere safe.

Good luck my FRiend!

Simple go get that little book that you stored them all in and keep in that special nook in your bedroom closet... Open the book and get back into your laptop...

I won't even raise the issue of why you cannot remember an important password (a phrase, I hope) for your laptop...

I keep a copy of all my log-in websites, and their passwords on sticky notes on my MacBook Pro, on a USB stick, and also in a book I keep on the table next to me in my home. That way if my lap top dies, I still have the info intact somewhere else.
