Buoyed by Democrats winning majorities in both houses of the state legislature, Gov. Ralph Northam promised to “immediately get to work on serious gun control legislation now that Republican obstructionists have been ousted by the voters.”
A top priority target is removing so-called assault rifles from private hands. “If you listen carefully to the 2nd Amendment lobbyists’ arguments about these weapons it’s clear that their intent is to arm citizens who might object to government policies,” Northam observed. “They’re not arguing for the rights of hunters or sportsmen. They’re saying that the people ought to be armed as a guard against an oppressive government. Well, the election of a fully Democratic government disposes of this argument. Democrats are the guardians of the people’s rights. They have no need for weapons that might be used to interfere with our governance.”
In related news, in the People’s Republic of Venezuela, government “death squads” have killed over 800 opponents of the ruling regime. An example of a typical operation earlier this year saw Luis Ariza be pulled from his home and summarily executed in the street. In 2017, Ariza was arrested at an anti-Maduro protest. There is no right for private citizens to bear arms in Venezuela.

Gun control and confiscation does rank high on the global socialist Dems list, but not the top.
From what I am hearing locally, (here in Northern VA at the moment), the near immediate order of business in Richmond, will include redrawing voting districts across a broader cross section of Virginia, so as to significantly increase Demon control, and to destroy any chance of elections moving back toward Republican control, or influence.
Another near top of the agenda item, is to quickly pass a sweeping hate-crimes and enforcement bill.
The socialist are going all in to define and control “hate speech” in VA. I am not sure of the details, but that’s not good.
Certainly can fight, hope, and pray otherwise, but it looks like VA is in deep long term trouble.
It is the left wing globalist “deep state” employees working for fed government, and mass Obama era Virginia targeted illegal immigration, AND obama era mass immigration from the Middle East, which are very much to blame for Northern Virginia becoming basically anti-American.
As this is the case, I hate to say this, but it really is too bad Trump could not decentralize fed government, and movee some of these agencies up to traditional deep left wing socialist bastions, like New York, Boston, or even Baltimore, to corral the left wing expansion, and force them to adhere to the high taxes, and ugliness of the socialist jurisdictions they so eagerly seek to force on the rest of America.
Man, watching morality, real justice, and liberty die is so truly bad!

The dems know they aren’t in good shape to keep control in Virginia. They barely won a few days ago. If they can’t change the district’s they ‘ll be back in the minority fairly soon, imo.
They had 23 seats unchallenged in the house, 10 in the Senate. They re in trouble.
