Who wants to bet that Mitch McConnell contacted Jeff Sessions to get him to run.
To prevent a conservative from winning the seat, that is, prevent a non-good-old-boy conservative, for Sessions is certainly VERY conservative.
But McConnell likes people who go along.
So he's intervening, as he always does, to prevent a MAGA type conservative from getting into HIS senate, just as he prevented Tea Partiers from getting elected, then co-opting those that did.
Whichever Republican gets the nomination in Alabama will win the election in November. So McConnell will do what he has to go get one of HIS boys the nomination.
And then he will tell Trump he has to endorse the Republican nominee.
He's an insidious, scheming snake. And the ONLY reason he's confirming judges is to keep conservatives on his side...because he's ALSO up for re-election next year, and he really likes being majority leader.
But always remember, he prefers Murkowski types to Cruz types
Mitch McConnell most likely has a very detailed file on Sessions of convictable evidence that can be leaked when necessary,
The AL seat is critical to win.
Sessions would certainly vote with McConnell and that would be a vote against impeachment.
Despite the beltway theater rhetoric Rand plays for Team McConnell on the big issues. Presumably, this is an effort to split up the potential conservative primary opposition to Sessions. Tuberville certainly has better name recognition than whoever this is and high profile endorsements would give him a leg up in the race.. Text book anti-grassroots GOP establishment move here.

Sessions was very convincing on Tuckers show tonight. He made the case he was, and is, 100% for President Trump and his agenda. Only problem is.. Why in the Hell did he accept the job when he knew he was going to recuse himself! Wish Tucker had asked him about that! Maybe Mark Levin will get him on his show and get the whole story out of him. Hoping.

Okay. That said, I agree 100% with you assessment of Sessions. He is NOT to be trusted.
As Limbaugh has emphasized again and again, the DC Establishment hates Trump and, more than they hate Trump they Hate US for voting for Trump.
Rush emphasizes correctly that some go along with some portions of the presidents agenda to attempt to fool the presidents voters but, he states accurately, that the president is surrounded by swamp creatures on Both Sides of the Aisle who want to Preserve the Status Quo at all costs.
Sessions is apparently compromised and at best senile.
Time for new blood who will do more than pay lip service for the Trump Agenda.

I guess we watched a different interview. He looked completely unrepentant and oblivious to the huge damage he caused the agenda he claims to support. And he hasn’t said a word in support of this agenda he supposedly strongly supports or against the coup since leaving DOJ? Why is that?
He will be 78 years old in February of 2020.

The Deep State told Sessions to recuse himself, and Sessions did exactly that.
Sessions defended the Mueller investigation and called it legitimate.
Trump called Sessions his biggest mistake.
Don't make a mistake and support Sessions. It's reasonable NOT to trust Sessions.
Trump was better off with Sessions than without him, whatever some people want to say, it’s just an objective fact. McConnell is a brilliant tactician and whatever else might be true, Trump needs all the friends he can get. Trump will be better off with a Sen. Jeff Sessions than with a Sen. Doug Jones.
Sessions hasn't had any position in government in almost a year. How exactly has he "refused to substantively support POTUS?"
If that's your point of contention then I have a better question: Why didn't Trump pick someone else?
