I see that its Will Rogers birthday today. He would have been 140. His timeless quotes are a tribute to the constancy of human nature. Of course if he were alive today theyd be Tweeted or Instagrammed and likely lost to posterity, buried under the morass of crap floating around out there. Here is my curated list of some his best:

The parrot situation reminds me of perhaps Mr. Rogers most sage advice:
Happy birthday Mr. Rogers; rest assured that Washington hasnt actually changed all that much since you were around. Its just more so.
I will only note that Will Rogers was a Democrat. Of course Democrats then were not at all like Democrats today, so he can be forgiven.

My Daughter and Grandchildren live in Claremore, OK which was Will’s home town. He was actually born a few miles away near a crossroads named Oologah but always claimed Claremore as his home.
Will had an unusual ability to understand what was really happening.
Rogers County is actually not named for Will but his Father who was a Confederate Captain in Stand Watie’s Cherokee Mounted Rifles.

Aviation in Alaska is treacherous because half of the state is vertical. If they flattenen out all the mountains, it would be twice as big. Because of treacherous weater in mountainous areas there. Flat out terrifying.
