"Trump didn’t sell out the Kurds by pulling out of Syria"
New York Post ^ | 19 October 2019 | Kenneth R. Timmerman

The national media blasted President Trump’s withdrawal of 50 US military advisors from the Syrian border with Turkey as a “sellout,” a “betrayal” and a “huge strategic blunder.”

Let’s be clear: None of them truly care about the Kurds. Otherwise, they would have been sending correspondents and camera crews to Rojava, as the Kurds call northern Syria, on a regular basis.

[....]

I have met with Kurdish political and military leaders in the region, including the PYD, the political arm of the Kurdish YPG militia. And while they were thrilled to have US backing in the fight against ISIS, none of them had any illusions about the US coming to their aid should Turkey attack.

[....]

The Kurds are paying a heavy price in this battle — not because of a US betrayal — but because they remain stateless and thus powerless. By targeting Erdogan financially, legally and undermining his legitimacy, President Trump has done more to help the Kurds than his critics with their crocodile tears. And for now, he is winning.

Looks as if President Donald J. Trump (I adore repeating that full title at every opportunity to make the leftists twitch and turn red in the face) once again has made idiots of the opposition while cannily avoiding unnecessary conflict, especially with an increasingly iffy but still important NATO ally.

“Erdogan is not even remotely interested in fighting ISIS, or in taking responsibility for the estimated 12,000 ISIS fighters currently in Kurdish custody at the al-Hol refugee camp. What actually happens to those ISIS prisoners, and the fate of Christian and Yazidi minorities, will be key measures of the agreement hammered out by Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with Erdogan on Thursday.”

For us, this is the most important issue.

I might add that I can’t ever tire of hearing President Donald J. Trump referred to as our COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF either.

Love knowing that our amazing Armed Forces are in the most capable hands of the best POTUS evah!

Finally, it’s great when PDJT sticks it to the “Military Industrial Complex,” who always thinks it knows what’s right, only to be outwitted and maneuvered by President Trump!

I wholeheartedly supported OUR PRESIDENT TRUMP in 2016. If I were suddenly changed into God for one minute and given a magic button I could press to designate anyone in the world, including myself, to be President in 2016 and 2020, it would be OUR PRESIDENT TRUMP.

Kurds have fought all comers for 100s of years, maybe since before the year 1000

Hulavu Khan only thought he did them in.

Erdogan was, and no doubt still is, ISIS’s number one sponsor.

When you realize that ISIS oil was marketed by Erdogan’s son, you know the game.

The president had 2 choices:

Withdraw the less than 100 advisors or leave them there, have them killed by Turkish forces.

If he chose the 2nd option then he had 2 other choices. Let it happen and be humiliated or get in a shooting war with Turkey.

The democrats would rejoice at decision #1 and the neocons would of been thrilled with option #2.

Trump nails it again.

Let Erdogan attack and be seen as as a vicious murderer, then impose sanctions bringing him to heel.

Erdogan chose poorly
