I think that’s highly unlikely but just for the sake of fantasy...
Suppose VPOTUS Pence (a basically quiet and genteel man) has become sick of the insane ruckus the Dems have created. Suppose he has reasoned that, if Trump is impeached, his own character will be attacked just as ferociously and unfairly, next. Suppose further that, while he would never abandon the man who made him VP while in office, he decided he would rather not run for the second term. Such a move is not unprecedented.
So then who could Trump select as a running mate? Split tickets are not unprecedented (although less common in recent decades). Trump could suck all the air out of the Democrats by asking Gabbard to be his VP. And I’d wager that in that position, not having to kowtow to the Democrat base, her leftist ideas would melt away and she would be revealed as a moderate.
Yeah, it’s wild, and not likely to happen. But it’s an interesting combination to speculate about.
