The CIA is authorized to work above the law. They can and have done all sorts of unethical things. The CIA is also good at covering their tracks. What we are seeing with Brennan is what happens when an unethical person is put in charge of the CIA. The only way Brennan can get cornered is if the other G6 countries cooperate and hand over the correspondence. Even then Brennan can just say I was just doing what the CIA does. The people that were doing all the dirty work for Brennan still work at the CIA.

It will take only one co-conspirator to cooperate for the entire coup structure to be exposed. The question is who will be first? My bet is on Clapper. A few days ago he previewed his “only followed orders” defense when he laid the blame at Obama’s feet. If he comes in first, he will say he was merely a loyal soldier tasked by his Commander in Chief to do this job. He will use that defense to say he was misled by others, including Brennan and Obama, and he will ask for immunity. I don’t think that will happen. The country has been through too much pain and division, caused by the coup participants. A price must be paid to reassure the rest of us that our justice system is based on equality and not on two tiers - one for us and the other for the “elite.” At the end of the day, my guess is that Clapper will plead to a lesser offense and will get credit for acceptance of responsibility and cooperation - both very important defense tools under federal sentencing law.
