Worst part is going back home from Penn Station.
Penn station is not a depot, like Grand Central, where the trains reach the end of the line and are always on the same track. At Penn, the train has already been somewhere and is now heading somewhere else, and no one know which track it will be on till the last minute, so there is no civilized time in the station as people catch the train one by one.
No, the crowd finally hears the track number right before the train departs. Then there is a mad rush for the stairways to get a seat. It makes a Japanese monster movie look like a stroll in the park.
Wow! When my nephew was at Mass General in Boston while on his Harvard fellowship, he had an apartment downtown and a spot in the parking structure was an additional $300+ per month for his vehicle......
Like I said, having never had to rely on public transportation, I don't know how you people deal with it........I'm a car guy.
Online map says 16.8 miles and 33 minutes. Doesn’t count waiting time for the subway. I’d say 40 minutes minimum.
Advantage of bus: I didn’t have to drive and find someplace to park. I could sit on the bus and read the newspaper.
That's pretty much the time I had to deal with when I was working........
But I didn't have the hassle of big city parking since we were in the suburbs and the corporation had access to a public lot.........
I was born and brought up in Mass. I married NJ and never want to go back to Mass.
Those who pronounce it that way are from the NYC area.
Metro North is one of the best run trains in America.
That is a reason why some people still live in Connecticut.
NJ Transit is a joke.
It should be privatized.
I believe the USPS is still government-run.
New York Pennsylvania Station is a complete mess.
I try not to travel with Penn Station, but there is no other way.
most people live in nj because of access to nyc/philadelphia
I was going to say that but I’ve said it so many times before. It’s the way they say “Jersey” in a certain part of Brooklyn. Another part of Brooklyn does the opposite, and says “terlet” instead of “toilet.”
What can I say? It’s Brooklyn.
