In his opening monologue, Stephen Colbert didn’t get the chance on Tuesday to tell a lot of jokes about the news that the House of Representatives has launched a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. But his audience didn’t seem to care, because they were too busy celebrating with a standing ovation.
On Tuesday’s “The Late Show,” Colbert began by rattling off numerous Donald Trump scandals, including “Russian collusion, obstruction of justice, saying Nazis are fine people, being an unnamed co-conspirator to campaign finance violations, lying about the Moscow Trump Tower, stealing money to pay for the border wall” and “faking the weather with a Sharpie.”
Every time, Colbert said, “People asked, ‘Is this the thing? Surely this must be the thing,'” only for it to turn out “every time, this wasn’t the thing.” Then after saying, “Here’s the thing: There’s a new thing. And it might be the thing,” Colbert rolled footage from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement of an impeachment inquiry.

Colbert’s show needs to be classified by the FEC and FEC as a commercial and in-kind contribution to the Democrats.
No other show on television or radio is more unduly partisan than Colbert’s show.
Let’s be very zen and Ben Carson-like about this about this whole thing. Calm and collected. Let the storm and BS pass...

Guess I missed it. The full House vote to proceed with impeachment. Otherwise this is just a Pelosi scam to keep the screening idiots like the squad happy. The Democratic Party is finished.
Trump was fabulous at the UN today! I’m all for carving his head up there on Mt. Rushmore! Colbert? Not sure but most of the time those late night Commie Democrat shows use a boat load of canned laughter.
Colbert’s show is filmed in mid-town Manhattan. He’s not a neutral entertainer, and he draws a very specific crowd with a very specific viewpoint.
NY City has become an entitled haven of wealthy oligarchs dependent on the Federal Reserve and Government, run by socialists. Its oddly statist-leftist to its very core. When it crashes again, it must never, ever be bailed out.
I work with someone who feels the same way because everything she knows about politics she learns from late night “comedians”.
Parts of New York City are as conservative as Des Moines, Mobile or Fort Worth.
Not HBO, CBS.
Free on CBS is still too much to get me to pay attention to Colbert.

This will happen when your audience is loaded with a bunch of single digit I.Q., college “student” drunks and pot smokers.

As for Western New York, the Niagara frontier, my hometown of Buffalo is infested with low-lifes. But it’s just beautiful in the suburbs and rural areas — and so are most of the folks.
I have a lot of New York transplants among my friends here in Southwest Florida. All pretty conservative — no wonder they got out.
