No American Has Any Obligation to be Honest With Our Dishonest Media
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Lewandowski’s right: No one has any obligation to be honest with a dishonest press. – Writing in The Atlantic, Russell Berman has a pearl-clutching piece about Cory Lewandowski treating Jerrold Nadler’s contemptible fake impeachment hearing yesterday with, well, contempt. Which is exactly what Lewandowski did, and deservedly so.

Berman lays out several examples of Lewandowski’s alleged contempt, and they’re all pretty much accurate. The upper east-side reader base of The Atlantic will all tut-tut and mutter ‘well, I never,’ naturally forgetting how they all cheered when an array of Obama-era officials committed mass perjury before the same committee during 2017-18, when it was chaired by a Republican.

One very interesting exchange Berman whines about came when Lewandowski told Democrat hired consultant Lawfare lawyer Barry Berke that, “I have no obligation to be honest with the media because they are just as dishonest as anybody else,” a statement that elicited gasps in the hearing room. No doubt most, if not all of those gasps came from members of the media assembled there.

So, here’s the irony of a writer for The Atlantic complaining about Lewandowski’s contempt not just for the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, but also for the fake news media: On the same day Berman’s piece was published, the magazine produced another piece, written by the dishonest pair of New York Times reporters who were caught in massive lies about Justice Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend.

As discovered by the great Mollie Hemingway, Senior Editor for The Federalist, The Atlantic’s piece, intended as a free advertisement for the Times’ reporters’ new smear book on Kavanaugh, contains another gigantic whopper. As we pointed out in yesterday’s Campaign Update, the book focuses on an alleged incident during Kavanaugh’s time in college – 38 years ago – in which he supposedly committed a lewd act at a party towards a girl who was supposedly there.

Never mind that the girl in question has no memory of any such incident, or even being at the party – something you would think would stick in her mind into perpetuity. Never mind that the authors end up admitting that they have literally no actual witnesses to the alleged lewd act at all, and base their entire despicable book on pure hearsay that no real journalist would ever dream of citing. This is Brett Kavanaugh, threat to Roe v. Wade, we’re talking about here, so the dragon must be slayed by any means possible, even if it requires the commission of conscious journalistic mendacity.

Hemingway exposed the authors for the deceitful hacks they truly are over the weekend, taking less than 24 hours to do so, and now exposes them even further as lying yet again in their Atlantic piece. In that piece, the authors claim that “The people who allegedly witnessed the event—Kavanaugh’s friends Kevin Genda, David Todd, and David White—have kept mum about it.”

That is a straight-up falsehood, as Hemingway details, pointing to a New Yorker piece written about the alleged incident a year ago:

One of the male classmates who Ramirez said egged on Kavanaugh denied any memory of the party. ‘I don’t think Brett would flash himself to Debbie, or anyone, for that matter,’ he said. Asked why he thought Ramirez was making the allegation, he responded, ‘I have no idea.’ The other male classmate who Ramirez said was involved in the incident commented, ‘I have zero recollection.’

In a statement, two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and one other classmate, Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez’s account of events: ‘We were the people closest to Brett Kavanaugh during his first year at Yale. He was a roommate to some of us, and we spent a great deal of time with him, including in the dorm where this incident allegedly took place. Some of us were also friends with Debbie Ramirez during and after her time at Yale. We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it—and we did not.

There’s even more, but you get the gist. The New York Times reporters – who I refuse to name here for the same reason I refuse to name mass killers, because they’re all shameful attention-seekers – at best failed to conduct even the most rudimentary research into the previous reporting by others on this alleged incident. At worst, they simply hoped to cover up the truth about what these supposed witnesses have in fact said about it.

So, this just becomes another in a long, long line of incidents in which “news” outlets like the New York Times and The Atlantic have been caught in blatant efforts to deceive the public about Trump-related officials. It should also be noted that the New Yorker piece referred to by Hemingway was itself revealed to contain a string of falsehoods shortly after it was published.

In the 4 years since Donald Trump announced his presidential candidacy, we have witnessed dozens of incidents – if not hundreds – in which supposed “news” organizations like these three, along with CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, the Washington Post and many others have published or aired heinously false reports about President Trump, his family, and a vast array of Administration officials and been forced to later sheepishly correct them and even fire the reporters and editors involved.

These are not honest mistakes. These are not oversights or errors in the editing process. These are obvious, intentional efforts to deceive in order to attain a political goal.

This is the sorry state of America’s news media today, and it is not getting better over time. If anything, the incidents of outright false reporting are accelerating as the Democrats and their media toadies continue to fail in their efforts to “get” Trump. A sense of rising desperation does that to people.

Given this reality, what possible obligation would Cory Lewandowski or any other American have to deal with such a manifestly dishonest media establishment honestly and truthfully? When you know that anything you say to a reporter is going to be twisted, edited, omitted or taken out of context in order to be made to seem damaging, why worry about honesty? When you know the media outlet you are dealing with cares nothing about facts, why bother with facts?

The press corps can gasp, tsk-tsk and mutter all the “well, I nevers” they want, but this is a situation of their own making. They have made this bed, and now they are lying in it, both figuratively and literally.

Enemies of the people, plain and simple.

That is all.

“No American Has Any Obligation to be Honest With Our Dishonest Media”

And no American juror has any obligation to find any defendant guilty for anything — until known criminals in the top echelons of government are in prison.

Pretty much the entire reason the FBI exists is to be able to present evidence to a jury that has integrity. IOW they have no reason to exist any longer. The FBI should be put out of our misery.

This reported story was not even based on an individual’s personal claim of something happening to them. The entire story is based on what a few individual (with their own agenda) claimed they heard about.

If you never heard of it there is something called the MANDELA EFFECT

https://mandelaeffect.com/about/

Where people believe something that did not happen.

There are many cases where people will share the same memory of an historical event, but the memories are all wrong.

So if this can happen with historical events, how can anyone trust any memory from 38 years ago.

You can go to any family function and as people begin telling stories (about their childhood) another member often would correct them on some detail. Who’s version is correct, they were both there but they have slightly different versions.

But here, two reporters wrote an entire book with the single aim was to ruin the reputation of a sitting Justice on the Supreme Court based not on any direct participants statement (who by the way already claimed to have no memory of the event in question) but on heresy from some political hack with an agenda.

There was no proof, no facts, no claim by any victim yet the New York Times printed it (excluding the paragraph where the individual claimed it did not happen to her).

This is not reporting, this is slander pure and simple to gain political points.

And all those that jumped on the bandwagon seconds after the article appeared (almost as if they all received the memo) should be ashamed of themselves

“This is not reporting, this is slander pure and simple..”

Slander is the deliberately spoken falsehood. Libel is the deliberately written falsehood.

“...enemies of the people...”

Just like Al Quida or the Taliban. They need to be exterminated.

King Edward the Long Shanks had less treason than what President Trump has to deal with.

Didn’t Joy Villa accuse Corey Lewandowski of sexual harassment? Wonder what became of that?

The despicable media laughed at Bill Clinton’s actual, corroborated “unzipped escapades”, rape and perjury. I hope every last one of them dies a slow and excruciating death.

And libel of a public person occurs when that person is defamed by a wanton and willful disregard for the truth. Which means Brett Kavanaugh has a case against the Times and the Atlantic.

Infiltrate an institution, gut it, wear its skin as a suit, and demand respect.

That’s what’s going on, has been going on, for a long time. Many things will run a long time simply on inertia, but the mechanism actually failed or broke a long time ago. That’s what’s going on with government, media, and education. We’ve been seeing some pretty big cracks in the facade, just you wait. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Americans are being punked by some of the dumbest mothe&fv&ers on the planet. It doesn’t have to be like this, and never did. Very, very sad.

I stand corrected.

However then, all those that rushed to the closest microphone and repeated the lies are guilty of slander.

"I hope every last one of them dies a slow and excruciating death."

But only after watching Trump get reelected in an electoral landslide.

Where, oh where do I go to have my First Amendment rights to a free press recovered. There is no free press here. Not when it lies with impunity. Not when it works against the people. Not when it abuses their rights.

BTW! I do not believe that the Founders defined our God-given rights in the First Amendment meant for freedom of the press to be only for a tiny fraction of the people. Not when all the other rights are for all people. If they meant freedom of the press to be reserved to only the press, it would have been a separate Amendment.

Where, oh where, do I go to have my First Amendment rights to a free press recovered.

Great post!

I would add to your list: big corporations, non-profits (including charities and churches), entertainment industry, public policy foundations...

and there are so many more.

I don't trust any entity that has more than fifty people in it anymore.

The Media, whether they are servants of truth or are out to get people to believe lies, are not in themselves the ultimate recipients of truth, it is information consumers. Do those consumers honor truth by believing it and living their lives according to it, or do they love lies, worship them and seek to exploit their idolatry over the dead body of the Truth?

It would be so easy to set the media up for massive libel suits.

The TDS is so strong with them that they could be easily misled by a small group of brilliant operatives.

Something along the lines of Project Veritas but with a sinister, revenge mandate.

It was Michelle Fields. And it was an assault slander.

Ben Shapiro was mixed up in it, defending Fields. Can’t stand him.
