While its true that Foxconn wont be creating the eighth wonder of the world, building a 20-million-square-foot manufacturing campus, or hiring 13,000 employees, it does have big plans, which were announced last week.
Ahem. Foxconn will be manufacturing a line of fully automated, robotic brewing machines that that can push out 100 cups of coffee in a single hour equaling the output of three to four baristas, according to the Briggo company, which sells the machines, which they have dubbed a coffee haus.
The coffee haus will end all the travails youve no doubt suffered trying to order a latte or Americano at the local cafe. No more lines, no more counter confusion, no more misspelled names, Briggos website promises. Ah yes, its the misspelled name that always gets my goat.
Well, those bad old days are over because Briggos automated machines make you the barista, giving you control over ingredients, espresso shots, flavorings and temperature without any human interaction.

I’ll have:
The Double Ristretto Venti Half-Soy Nonfat Decaf Organic Chocolate Brownie Iced Vanilla Double-Shot Gingerbread Frappuccino Extra Hot With Foam Whipped Cream Upside Down Double Blended, One Sweet’N Low and One Nutrasweet, hold the ice.
Yeah, but the lady who pours my coffee has nice boobs. Easy on the eyes
They will put one of these on a personnel transport plane, and the associated press will publish stories about how the military spends eight thousand dollars on a coffee pot.
I go to Waffle House for coffee. It would be cheaper at McD and about as good but I get to waste some time at WH and get to needle the waitresses. That also adds to the price as I leave a tip. If I just only want coffee, I make it at home.
I hate to think how much time I have wasted —even at Dunkin’ Donuts — when I have gone in for a black coffee and have been behind that customer. If I go in and see teenaged girls ahead of me, I know I’m going to be there a while.
The Ford dealership I visit for vehicle maintenance has a great self-service coffee machine. I always do 6 shots of espresso which leaves just enough room at the top of the cup for a shot of cold water to soften the high temp. Love automation. Of course, upon paying the service bill...it’s a very expensive cup of coffee.
But I do get to stare at the new Roush and Bullitt Mustangs...
The market is for ‘robotic’ home brewers.
Holding space for a half pound of beans.
Grinds and makes whatever amount of coffee you need in the morning, at the time you need it.
present day ones you have to put in beans every day.
(Don’t know how to flush it. Guess that is the key.)
a keurig with a refillable coffee pod with what i want, is ehough automation for me.
Come on, guys. What’s wrong with a good shot of JFG or Folgers’ instant coffee? All the rest is just expensive falderal!
I want it all! LOL!
Valve to let in the right amount of water, separating the grinding and brewing operations would allow for flushing.
Do nothing... and the coffee is there in the morning!
I’m a robot expert BTW, but don’t care to work anymore.
Keurig is an excelllent system for someone who doesn’t drink much coffee.
Doesn’t Circle K and RaceTrac have essentially the same thing already? And probably at a cheaper price?
“Whats wrong with a good shot of JFG or Folgers instant coffee?”
Nothing! My morning “grind” is 4 teaspoons of Tasters Choice instant dumped in a large cup of microwave-heated water. A quick and easy “jug of java”. The buzz starts shortly thereafter...
I have a keurig for a cup of decaf in the evening. I have a Nespresso Latissimo Pro for the morning latte. No measuring and love that I have no cleanup- twist a dial and then just put the milk froth container back in the fridge and go!
Does this mean people will stop going to college for a Barista degree?
The mini filters that fit the Keurig cup cut down on the countertop mess.
Heretic.
I thought those had already been invented:
But you still have the issue of disposing of the first grounds. If you want a second serving,
