State lawmakers took aim at liberal local government overreach this past session, and they passed a slew of legislation hoping to rein in some of the worst of it.
Among the new laws is one ending forced annexation. For decades, city governments forcibly annexed property on their outskirts in a bid to grow their tax basewhether the property owners agreed or not. This anti-democratic practice was curtailed somewhat in 2017, but it wasnt until this past legislative session that lawmakers fully ended it. Under the new rules, all home-rule cities must now hold an electionand win itbefore grabbing any new land.

Hmmm. An entire town voting whether or not to take the cash of one guy who can’t vote because he’s not part of the town yet. Wonder how that election will go.
Rats being rats
What stopped you from posting the whole thing?
Democracy Definition = 6 wolves and 5 sheep voting on what’s for dinner.
Katy Mills Mall was built just outside of the Katy city limits and they had to pay the city of Houston to not annex the property for 10 years.
The law was started by liberals to prevent white flight. Look at Houston now. A liberal’s nightmare with its urban sprawl. Liberals know nothing of unintended consequences...
Demonic evil knows; they just don't care.
“Liberals know nothing of unintended consequences...”
Because they can only ban, demand, and mandate.
