I remember those hamburgers. I considered them a cheap imitation of a hamburger. My choice of hamburger was the Dairy Queen hamburger with a Dilly Bar, of course. I remember the hamburgers when they were cooked on a griddle. Nice and juicy.
Yes, I noted the hand-held scanners just two days ago.
A nice improvement. Much quicker.
But you can’t beat Aldi as far as speed at checkout. It’s an incredible grocery store concept. Minimal employees, but you generally get fast service at checkout.

Automats are nothing new.
They were definitely a cheap imitation of a real hamburger. “Where’s the beef?” I asked way back then — even before that became a commercial.
If they made 1 dollar an hour they would still automate. This is NOTHING to do with the minimum wage.
When McDonalds started microwaving everything all the flavors were lost.
