If it seems like the number of complaints from your female friends about not being able to find a man is growing, we may finally know why. Somewhere between 1979 and 2008, Americans decided it was much less worth it to get hitched: the share of 25- to 39-year-old women who were currently married fell 10 percent among those with college degrees, 15 percent for those with some college, and a full 20 percent for women with a high-school education or less.
This great American marriage declinea drop from 72 percent of U.S. adults being wed in 1960 to half in 2014is usually chalked up to gains in women's rights, the normalization of divorce, and the like. But it also a lot to do with men. Namely, economic forces are making them less appealing partners, and it ties into everything from China to opioids.

Bicycles Don’t Need Fish *EITHER*.
Just so long as you understand.
Seriously, I told my wife of 42 years that if I was 20 right now, marriage would look rather unappealing. One reason is fat chicks with tats don't turn me on. I'd have a hard time finding a woman to date, much less marry.
Seriously, if I was 20 something, I'd consider the option of finding an Asian wife who wanted to come to America. I have no interest in dominating a woman, but I do expect respect and loyalty.
You will excuse me if I dont just take your word for it. Please elaborate. How am I wrong?

I’d head to the Philippines so fast it’d make your head spin.
Wolves in sheeps clothing. They come here specifically looking for a well to do American guy to marry and then divorce-rape.
Men are less marriageable because the world today teaches males at a young age that women have “options”, men have obligations.
An obligation to take care of her, and her illegitimate child, and be the worker bee drone that does all of those drudgery chores and is basically stupid, and inept.
And when she decides that she wants to leave, you get completely cleaned out and left penniless.
Another reason is the lack of premature deaths. My great-grandfather married my great-grandmother. It was his third at 42, the first two died. It was her first at 16, both her parents died. They stayed married for 20 years, then he died. She married again, and again, and again, and again, and then died four times a widow, all from natural death. In the old days you could wait out each other, one was going to go eventually.
Author of article.
Civil and criminal laws put married men at a disadvantage.

Machines have reduced the number of manly activities. Electric starter, power steering, automatic transmission, no more manual ditch digging, cement mixing, climbing (cherry pickers eliminated that), a lot of farm work.
And women want to do manly activities which as I just explained aren’t manly any more.
Because they’re a bunch of mama’s boys looking for another mama to tell them what to do and how to do it.
I must disagree. My bride enriches life in 10,000 ways. Id be a poor man without her.
And shes one to ride the river with.
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
I did.
Just read another statistic saying divorces are at a low. At one time 1/2 of marriages ended in divorce. Now its 1/3. Progress.
Personally as a woman, I feel the same way. But, Id never make a blanket statement about what works for me. Not every woman has kissed only toads. Some have found their Prince Charming and more power to them. I personally am very content alone.
Whenever I present my thoughts on marriage, I get a lot of disagreement from married men filled with a lot of generalizations and platitudes, but never any specifics. So, I will ask, what exactly is the upside for YOU in marriage? In what ways are you better off, and not worse off?
My neighbor Mark is married to an Asian. She is pleasant and hard-working.
