Have you tried different browsers? Google Chrome? Firefox, Opera, Safari, Brave..some browsers eat your memory and will crash the computer and 8 Gigs isnt that much. I have 32 gigs and even that at times crashes. On the other hand, crashing is a Microsoft forte.
Are you using MS Browser (Edge or IE) as they may be the culprit? I avoid them at all costs - too slow and buggy.
I was using Chrome but recently I discovered “Slimjet” browser - it uses same Chromium engine but without the tracking software of Chrome. Slimjet is lighter & faster and, hands down, THE best browser I’ve ever used.
So far, Slimjet (32-bit version is recommended) has been 100% stable.
Hope this helps....keep us updated,
I’ve noticed that at times, my browser windows become VERY SLOW to load, despite having installed a much faster router. I suspect, as usual, it is a “Windows 10 update” issue. My experience (and advice) is to bear with it for a week or so and see if Microsoft doesn’t issue an update that fixes the issue.
If it hasn’t improved after a week or so, then attack it again as you have started to do.
Yes. I have the same issue in MS Edge, Firefox, and Brave.
If you can identify that particular update, you could try uninstalling it — rolling back your laptop to a time prior to that update. While Microsoft with Windows 10 will eventually want you to put that update back on, if it solves the stability issue it would help reveal the cause.
Another option would be to either uninstall Mozilla (Firefox) and reinstall it, or install an unrelated browser like Chrome just to see if the issue persists across other browsers. If so, it may also suggest the OS update is the culprit.
While not as visible, the old Internet Explorer should still be available. I’d also launch that and try hitting the problematic sites to see if it also behaves similarly.
My guess is malware of some sort. I have not had any malware issues since I began using Mcafee (on one computer) and Norton on another. It’s a cost you have to accept on Windows.
One more question....
Did you download update KB4512941 ?
This has been causing many, many problems - primarily sucking up memory and causing high CPU usage. The problem is based on “Cortana” search and the MS update kinda screwed that update.
If you have this update, try Uninstalling and rebooting. It helped me and many, many others.
Microsoft must be asleep at the switch, because this has been going on for weeks already. Same issues I had with the buggy HP laptop before this one (which I pitched like a friggen frisbee).
My computer must have sent Microsoft thousands of messages since it started crashing. Have you seen how often Windows 10 calls home? It's nuts. Like every few seconds.
I’m posting this from from my Dell-Inspiron laptop in safe mode with networking. The Windows 10 upgrade to ver. 1903 has been a disaster. Not even the Microsoft help desk could roll me back to a earlier time.
All of my data/personal files were parked over in the user folder, so at least I can copy them onto a USB thumb drive, but my choice now is to ditch this computer, and block any further upgrades until Microsoft gets this fixed.
Interestingly, I asked the technician (on India Standard Time) if Microsoft was handling many cases like mine. They’re working 24/7.

My main browser is Firefox, which has been stable for me for well over a decade. I also use Brave on occasion, but I hardly ever use the MS Edge browser.
Everything was working fine on my old computer, then I got the latest update. I am not sure if it’s crashing or if it just got incredibly slow. Because, If I leave it alone when it appears to crash, it will eventually do whatever I asked. I am guessing that my old system doesn’t have what it takes to run the latest build.

I appreciate your two cents, friend, but re-read my post. I’ve already done everything you suggest.
Their website is strangely opaque for an Austin, TX, startup and doesn’t sound quite totally American in its conventions and use of English.
They have an affiliate program that pays sites for signing up new users and something just doesn’t feel right about it.
Then I found this: https://borncity.com/win/2018/03/26/is-flashpeak-inc-shipping-slimjet-browser-with-a-backdoor/
For issues like telementary and Cortana, these can be dealt with among the over 200 tweaks available in the safe freeware Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 for Windows 10. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/list-of-tweaks-available-in-uwt4
I just checked, and don't see that one listed in my updates.
Interesting. I'm on version 1809 and having similar troubles.
