Trump steers clear of background checks as possible solution on guns

Following Saturday’s shootings in West Texas, President Donald Trump on Sunday remained firm that his “administration is committed to working with Congress to stop the menace of mass attacks” but did not include universal background checks as part of the solution this time.

Trump largely attributed the shootings to mental health issues and said the mass attacks have “been going on for a long time” and that he wants to reduce them.

“It would be wonderful to say — to say ‘eliminate,’ but we want to substantially reduce the violent crime — and actually, in any form,” he said at the start of a briefing on Hurricane Dorian. “This includes strong measures to keep weapons out of the hands of dangerous and deranged individuals, and substantial reforms to our nation's broken mental health system.”

The president added: “To reduce violence, we must also ensure that criminals with guns are put behind bars and kept off the streets.“

POTUS Trump is smart enough to not fall for the communist/deep state trap and smart enough to see the reality of what’s going on....unlike Bush’s “read my lips” fiasco.
IF they want to end all of this, just disarm the communists. It would go to nothing.

Here's the solution. Democrats should agree to a serious discussion about reasonable drug control. Meth and club drugs had something to do with some of the most notorious of recent mass "shootings."

I emailed President Trump this afternoon:

“Dear President Trump,

“You are absolutely correct: “. . . stronger background checks would not have stopped the mass public attacks our nation has witnessed over the past six or seven years.”

“Please do not pay any attention to any person who is advocating for laws that eviscerate the Second Amendment to the US Constitution; they have an anti-American, anti-Constitution agenda and wish only to further restrict our God-given Freedoms.

“I urge you to pay attention to those advisors and friends who are Constitutionalists – who believe in the sanctity of the Rule of Law.

“Thank you for your attention to this very important matter.

“Sincerely,
“Frank L. Davis, Jr., MBA

How’s this AWB & Registration really going to play out?

After registration was required in 2013 in NY & CT, here’s what didn’t happen.

There were likely 350,000 residents of Connecticut who had banned “assault weapons” as of late 2013. The media ran with this. Headlines announced that more than 300,000 residents of Connecticut opted not to register their “assault weapons.”

According to New York, just 23,847 people registered their so-called “assault weapons” since the 2013 law took effect. These people registered a total of 44,485 firearms. So, according to the NSSF’s estimate, some 976,153 New Yorkers didn’t register their “assault weapons”.

IF the real intent is to CUT DOWN on violence with dangerous weapons if the goal, PASS a new federal law that REQUIRES a minimum of a TEN or TWENTY year additional sentence upon conviction of any violent felony crime that is attempted or committed with ANY DEADLY WEAPON & that must be served in full BEFORE beginning any other State or Federal sentence to prison that the felon has received.

This new federal felony will be EASY to convict a felon upon in that ALL that must be proven at trial is:
1. Did the criminal attempt or complete any violent felony crime(s)
AND
2 At that time & place did the convicted felon possess any DANGEROUS WEAPON?

Enforcing that one new law WILL cut violent crimes W/O DOUBT & WILL NOT infringe of the Constitutional Rights of law-abiding citizens..

Yours, TMN78247

He owns the bumpstock ban. He is clearly trending as a gun grabber. He should maybe outlaw murder, instead of self defense. Leftists are shooting up America and he wants, doctors, un elected, unaccountable people to decide who owns guns except criminals.

I could take that whole group out myself from my wheelchair with a Marlin Model 60 and a dime store scope.

We don’t need a “solution on guns.” We do need a more effective approach to the violence problem - one that doesn’t focus on the tool used.

"Antifa Poll Protection Force"

Motley crew. They're not legally armed. People who do drugs are prohibited. If police and residents did their duty to round the addicts and dealers up, the mass murders wouldn't be happening.

Seems more likely that Trump knew how worthless bump stocks are.

Imagine defending yourself using a bumpstocked weapon. The thing would jam, and your opponent would gun you down.

Trump knows he was doing us a favor. If we have to defend ourselves against gangs or their deepstate employers, Trump wants us to have a tactical advantage.

Bumpstocks would get us killed.

No, he got the bejeezus scared out of him last week when we melted the White House servers over his anti-gun statements of the week prior.

He was all set to sign Red Flag legislation until then.
