In 2016, Anthony Kurta, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for military personnel policy, announced, “There will be mixed genitalia in military bathrooms, showers, and billeting." On a conference call with Army Colonel Ron Crews and others, Kurta explained that the new policy allowing transgender soldiers to serve according to their “gender identities” rather than their biological sex meant that a person whose gender identity and biological sex did not match would be allowed to use the barracks of the opposite sex. It also meant that transgender soldiers would be evaluated not according to the physical standards appropriate for their own sex but according to the standards for the opposite sex.
In practice, then, biologically male soldiers who “identified” as female would be treated as if they had the bodies of young women and, for instance, be allowed to pass Army fitness tests at a lower level or pass body composition standards designed for a member of the opposite sex. In an institution that is concerned exclusively with physical realities and physical outcomes, that is no small thing.
Crews, a former chaplain, was concerned about the privacy of female soldiers under the new policy and the effect it might have on recruiting and retention:

The President has complete and unfettered control over the military.
This is an area where Trump needs more understanding and needs to exert forceful control.
This will not last long, and is likely already overturned.
Every officer that saluted the transgenderizing of the military should be cashiered.
Bad engineering, be it social or mechanical, soon leads to fail, sometimes EPIC fail.
Trying to force square pegs into round holes is rarely successful, and if fit is important, the attempt is soon abandoned.
Society, like mechanical contrivances, has to serve a purpose, and failing that, becomes just another curiosity in history.
Change does not mean alter, fold or spindle .... it means mutilate the existing and put a different one in it's place.
The Muslim Obama had a deep and abiding hate for all things American.
He failed miserably as an American, and did everything he could to harm America........
He was first and foremost concentrated on building his “federal inheritance.”
But judging by the accumulated financial data of his years in office, his going to French Polynesia (offshore banks) immediately upon exiting office, and the Obama’s vast spending to date.......he left office with a huge pile.
Without a doubt, my greatest disappointment with Trump is the fact that virtually every left wing social experiment put into effect by Obama in the military is still there. While the cross dresser problem has been solved, apparently, women are still in the Infantry and other combat arms jobs among other problems. Trump should have fired every Obama appointee in DoD immediately and many of his butt kissing Generals and Admirals who did the dirty work for Obama that nearly destroyed our military. When the Obama regime announced they would open infantry combat roles to women, it was coupled with the adamant statement “standards will not be lowered.”
At that instant, I knew the plan was to lower standards.
Kurta was a "Rear Admiral" long before he was even an Ensign.

That’s just it, once a Lefty does something, it’s almost impossible to undo.
Anything a conservative does, can easily be undone.
It’s absolutely cultural. Doesn’t help when the Army forgets that people join them, not the other way around.
For the most part, Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children haven’t forgotten that....

Taxpayers were also paying for surgery for transgenders - and they couldn’t serve in combat because they needed to be near their doctors.
