Plus I differ with him on just pump again to clear a jamb.

If you short stroke an 870 and the shell jams, the pump action locks up solid tight. No way you can pump the problem away.

The only way to clear it is to remove the end of the tube, the spring, etc., and dump it all on the round and start over.

Anyone who needs advice on what gun to buy is likely to short stroke when under stress.

Other brands may differ in that regard. My experience is only with the 870.

Winchester 1300 is nearly impossible to short-stroke.

Duck hunters have an edge in operating a pump under pressure,I’d say. The ergonomics be On my way! Second nature.
