It was a weird song when it came out at the tail end of the Summer of 1979. How was I to know it was to hit #1 on the pop charts?

I apologize for it doing so. I had my money on that "Suspicions" song by Eddie Rabbitt. What did I know about pop music?

There was a parody called “Wop Music”.

Tony Bennet/Frank Sinatra
Everybody talking bout/Wop Music

Can’t find it online.

That’s hysterical :)

If you find it send it to me.

The good old days of exchanging ethnic slurs on a night out are gone.

Now everyone, including my nephews and nieces, is just white.

My nephews and nieces are as Italian as the pilgrims were :)

Me nephew’s wedding was the FIRST wedding I went to where the Tarantella wasn’t played :(

I felt like Franky Five Angels at the Nevada communion party for Michael Corleone’s kid.

In contrast to “Gold” from the other day, which despite its popularity I couldn’t abide, despite its inanity I liked this one,

Even though the songs are not much alike, somehow mentally I file it with “Love is Like Oxygen” by Sweet. And “I Wanna Kiss You All Over” by, IIRC, Exile.

I have Sirius XM, and have noticed that while the disco station (Studio 54 Radio) plays this song quite often, they always fade it out before you hear the echoing last line. Any idea why they would do that? A copyright issue, perhaps?

Still like it.
