Does anyone remember Everett Dirksen?

Aside from Margaret Thatcher’s comment regarding socialism’s biggest flaw, Senator Dirksen is attributed with  the world’s most famous quote with respect to government spending:

“A million here, a million there, pretty soon, you're talking real money.”

Subsequently the phrase was upgraded to “a billion here, a billion there” due to inflation. Now, in one grand gesture aimed at saying the planet, Bernie Sanders has managed to raise the expression to 21st century levels of profligate spending: Sanders releases $16 trillion ‘Green New Deal’ plan, promises it will ‘pay for itself’ – like all such programs do.

“Democratic 2020 hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders on Thursday released his plan for a Green New Deal – promising that the multitrillion-dollar plan to radically overhaul the economy and combat climate change will “pay for itself” over the next 15 years.”

It kind of reminds me of the Democrats’ last great spending program to cure a societal ill: LBJ’s War on Poverty.** Hey California, how’s that “war on poverty” working out for you?

Not since the Democrat’s “War on Poverty” was launched over 50 years ago has a government program promised so little for so much.

**According to the Cato Institute, since the Johnson Administration almost $15 trillion has been spent on welfare, with poverty rates being about the same as during the Johnson Administration.

Why does anyone still think that the Democrats can solve anything?

You get more of what you subsidize. After $15 Trillion we have more than ever. If we really want to end poverty we should tax the poor at the highest rates. The semi-intelligent ones will claim more income than they actually make (instead of the other way around, which is the current situation). In just a few years there would be no more poverty here at all.

They don’t have to solve anything. All they have to do is maintain their propaganda to keep the retarded in their grip. It has worked for decades. Why should they quit?

Interesting. Seattle had the largest Hooverville in the country during the Great Depression. Around 20,000 people lived there. It surely did not look like these scenes of filth and squalor. These people must be heavily drug addicted.

I'm claiming Dunning-Kruger effect on this person

Dunning-Kruger effect = some people are so stupid that they do not know just how stupid they really are, and also low ability people do not possess the skills needed to recognize their own incompetence, and also fools are blind to their own foolishness = these people believe that they are smarter and more capable than they really are

I'm claiming Poe's Law on this person

Poe law = some ideas/beliefs are so stupid that it becomes difficult to tell the difference between a parody/satire of the belief and an actual serious genuine belief
