Republicans are targeting several House seats they lost to Democrats in New Jersey last year as they look to come back after losing nearly all of their seats in the state.
Republicans lost four New Jersey House seats in 2018 as voters angry with President Trump and former Gov. Chris Christie (R) punished their party. The GOP had already lost a seat in the state in 2016.
In 2020, the GOP thinks it has a decent chance of winning back three of those seats if things break the right way. But it won't be easy, and Democrats are optimistic that theyll hold all of the seats.
I think the Democratic incumbents are at least slightly favored in all four of the districts that flipped in 2018, but Republicans have a chance in all of them, said John Weingart, associate director of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University, who has worked in New Jersey state government during both Democratic and Republican administrations.

Those nasty Republicans are “plotting” again. . . .
Just run left-wingers. Right, Puff ?
The Hill LOLOLOL again another poorly written article with only the dumbest opinions possible thrown as if pure fact.
those fleeing are fools, you don’t win a war by fleeing. The libs are flocking to all the red states, not to mention illegals. soon there will be no where to flee to.
They are being replaced by Asians (especially East Indians) and Latins, depending on the neighborhood. My brand new Kushner-constructed building facing the WTC is largely Chinese or East Indian.
Leonard Lance lost and he supported Mueller’s witch hunt, opposed the tax cuts, opposed Obamacare Repeal, and opposed Trump on immigration.
Yet the towns with the good school districts still remain pricey with high five figure property taxes. Millburn/Short Hills, Summit, Madison etc. (all of which are close to my office) are doing just fine, but come at quite a premium even when compared to northern Virginia. In terms of Demos, you are seeing more East Asians, especially Chinese, buying in Millburn and Livingston.
My sister and brother-in-law moved from Princeton NJ to a nice mountain town in NC.
I’m not sure...I believe 2020 you might see a few R pick up in the northeast...
True.
Even wealthy black people live in Millburn/Short Hills, Summit.
Demographics have changed. They’re not going to get them back.
New Jersey Republicans are useless, spineless RINOs who are more interested in “being nice” than winning.
