I asked this question on social media, where I interact with people across the political spectrum: What happens on Nov. 4, 2020, the day after the election?
Its a legitimate worry. Based on what happened after November 2016, the day after this next election will tell us where our democracy stands. Because were setting the stage where whichever side loses they may feel justified in claiming it was rigged or illegal, and the 2020 winner is illegitimate.
This is hardly unfounded considering both what we know and what we are seeing coming. First, on the Left.
Given that the Left and most Democrats have lived at Defcon One since the day after the 2016 election; given that they have called Trump a white supremacist, a racist, a Russian agent, an existential threat to the Republic, and have run from the beginning with the hashtag NotMyPresident; given that Antifa is allowed to grow and even control at times a major U.S. city and other violence has been common; given that Russia will interfere again (which can be assumed because they have for generations); then what can we expect on the day after the election if Trump is victorious?
Will the Lefts fury just be spent and they will attempt an inward evaluation of the Democratic Party as the GOP did in 2012? That doesnt seem to be the tenor of the revolutionaries and those playing to them.
It seems more likely that there could well be a far worse response from the Left than there has been since 2016. Maybe not just mass demonstrations, but actual riots. After all, four more years of an existential threat, a foreign agent in the White House? Many would feel fully justified in taking extreme actions.
How about on the right?
If over the next 16 months the media continues to act in a blatantly partisan way; if social media increasingly bans, de-platforms and generally cuts off access to Republicans (under the guise of hate speech) while tilting the field to Democrats; if tech companies take conservative websites offline (not just the extremist fringe sites); if Democrats in Congress, no less, continue to dox and put a physical target on the back of Trump and GOP donors; if mainstream media outlets block effective Republican advertisements (essentially, the left greatly reducing Trump and Republicans ability to communicate with voters); and then Trump loses, how will the right respond?
There may be a sense of justification for extreme action. It seems less likely, because generally, other than the rather subdued Tea Party movement, conservatives rarely take to the streets and never refuse to accept election results. (Remember, Democrats already have twice this century.)
But we are in somewhat uncharted water. There would arise a fringe element on the right that could react in extra-legal ways. The frustration level would be sky-high if most of the above conditions are in place.
If neither side will accept 2020, then we actually do have an existential threat.
This situation is even more dangerous than a socialist winning the presidency, as horrible as that would be. We have seen over and over how the Framers genius has spared us from terrible leadership. However, if the American public does not accept election results, that genius is for naught.
Democrats were right in saying ahead of 2016 when they were sure Hillary would win that Republicans and Trump need to accept the results (which was always going to happen) but then unfortunately those Democrats chose not to accept them when Hillary lost. Remember, Hillary still travels around saying she won, just as Democrat Stacey Abrams does after losing the Georgia governors race by a handy amount.)
On my social media, everyone on the right said they would accept the results, but almost none of them thought that Democrats would. Most on the left, but given that my connections are not the radical side of the Democratic Party, said they would essentially cry all night and move on. They were not so sure what the right and Trump supporters would do.
My guess, and it is only that, is that if Sen. Kamala Harris or Sen. Elizabeth Warren win the election, the right will essentially accept it, even with all those elements stacked against us. But its only a guess.
On the other side, I can barely imagine what the left and Democrats will do if Trump is re-elected, because I could never have imagined the hysteria and violence that has followed his initial election.
What happens Nov. 4, 2020 will tell us where our democracy stands.
We have Al Gore to thank for this.
It all depends on what happens between now and then. There is talk of another great recession coming. What will happen if on election day we are three or four months into a serious economic slump? Or 12 months...
I don’t know what happens, nobody does.
I hope what happens is the reelection of president Trump and election/reelection of enough Republicans to control both the Senate and the House.
But we all need to do our part and be sure to VOTE.
Yes we do. But for a different reason. If Al Gore did invent the internet as he claimed, then he is responsible for Google, Facebook and other social media.
Which nearly stole the 2016 election. And certainly WILL interfere to ensure a Rat victory in 2020.
If the liberals win, you can expect the Americans to be hunted down, both metaphorically and literally, and abused.
All deliveries from Lucky Gunner should be completed by 11/2/2020.
the day after this next election will tell us where our democracy stands.

The day before the Kenyanesian Usurpation, we had a Republic.
LOL
Ive said before, the most peaceful outcome is probably secession. Id have no objections letting Left leaning states that want to leave go - though areas of those states need to be given that same right - for example think of the non coastal parts of Washington, Oregon and California. Think of how much NYC, Chicago and Miami do not fit the rest of the states they are in.
If it’s a narrow loss for the Democrat, I expect violence in the streets. We saw some of that in the days after the 2016 election.
We may well see lawsuits and the election not truly settled until judges weigh in, in various states. If it’s close in more than one state, then things would be in limbo until judges settle lawsuits over things such as voters being turned away, provisional ballots not being properly handled, and even some reasons we can’t yet imagine.
I submit that this is the constitutional solution. The federal government is WAY out of constitutional bounds, and all three branches are usurping power that is reserved to the states.
Even now the federal government is proposing to increase its hold on the individual, e.g., bu demanding red flag laws and by proposing institution of "domestic terrorism" crimes - which is essentially a juiced-up version of the odious concept of "hate crime."
keep your loved ones close and be ever vigilant
I think the Republicans will be walking around stunned at the level of fraud and election theft that went unopposed.
It is my personal opinion that a lot is going to happen next year.
Word is, the President and Boris Johnson are about to agree on a bilateral trade deal that is supposed to go in effect the day after Brexit. Brexit is supposed to happen 31Oct, trade deal 01Nov. I’m thinking that will lead to more countries, wanting a piece of the US markets, will withdraw from the EU and speed up its demise.
China is obviously going to try and wait out the storm, but with the stuff in Honk Kong, companies moving manufacturing to other countries like Vietnam, its currency manipulation and the fact that they’re hemorrhaging money to fight off the tariffs, no telling how long they can last.
Wall St, as the President shifts more power/focus to Main St, is going to do what it has to do to protect their Globalist Agenda and investments.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone to see the opponents of the President and the US, to include the globalists in our midst’s, to try and sabotage the economy leading up to the election and pinning it all on the President. Or try to, at least.
Then toss in the absolute unhinged Left. Hell, Stacy Abrams said that the RNC is going to send off-duty cops into neighborhoods to suppress votes. Gee, wasn’t that the Black Panthers that did that?
Then toss in ANTIFA, et al, raising all sorts of hell.
I won’t be shocked if we don’t even have elections due to all the violence and chaos that might ensue.
Have we so quickly forgotten? There are no legitimate GOP presidents anymore. GW Bush was “selected not elected.” Second term? Now he’s a lame duck. Anything to ensure no GOP president can govern.
Trump will go from “Russian Spy” to “stole the election” in no time flat and remain illegitimate in the eyes of his opponents.
Given what he’s accomplished so far, imagine what could have been if he hadn’t been opposed by both parties!
What happens? One side or the other will claim the election is invalid due to massive vote fraud (Republicans) or widespread voter suppression (Democrats).
