CWII PING !

The CWII Ping List is short for Civil War II. It is NOT a list of people advocating another Civil War in America. It is a list of people who are interested in the parallels between the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and our current situation, or more generally are noting the references to a 'coming Civil War' that are made in the press.

FR rules do not permit advocating for the overthrow of the Republic, and I am not aware of anyone doing so on the list. Still many do see that as the political climate worsens we may be heading in a direction that makes such a conflict all but inevitable, particularly if other avenues for resolving our differences are taken away. Such as widespread vote fraud by leftists making elections meaningless, or a small cadre of judges over-ruling all attempts to end destructive policies over the clear will of the people.

I am of the opinion that the US is very far down the road of Civil War II. However, most people do not yet know it. Some are waking up to that fact, a few have been preparing for it.

To help yourself prepare, start with some simple things.

1 - get healthy - take care of those “little” surgeries that you have been putting off. Stop with the sugar and start exercising.

2 - weapons - more than just guns. It is different types of guns, improvised weapons, manufacturing of destructive devices, ammo reloading, weapons repair. You will need skills in this area as well.

3 - first aid - not only skills but set up a kit or perhaps even stock some supplies

4 - Water - learn how to purify and store water. You will need water before you will need food

5 - food - you dont have to get the latest MRE / camp food. Some extra cans each time you go shopping is a start. Consider investing in a vacuum sealer.

6 - defense - a bug out site is nice but lets face it, you will likely want to stay in your house. Unfortunately most home walls are not bullet resistant. Sand bags are heavy but can make a good first floor defense. You can buy 1,000 sandbags from www.sandbagstore.com for $260 ish. Protected from sunlight, these bags will last a really long time in storage.

7 - growing food - learn to garden and have the tools/knowledge on stand by. A small hobby garden now is good practice.

8 - finances - pay off debt, collect trade-ables (bic lighters, razors, soap, trash bags, toilet paper, etc) and for more direct barter, collect silver / gold coins

That’s exactly what the deep state is doing. They have created the so called left right paradigm so that the people will fight among each other and the government elites can come in and take more and more control.

Most people want liberty. if they finally realized that we would have a revolution against the federal government. Unfortunately too many people are too dependent on government (welfare and corporate) or they have been hopelessly brainwashed by government propaganda.

What we need is nothing less that a great awakening and revolution against the federal government (of course peacefully). The power from the federal government needs to be given back to the states. If that means the secession of liberty minded states, so be it.

CWII would be a horrible, sickening, thing to experience. It would drag on for many years with tens of millions of deaths. Basically, it will be cities against rural, but even that understates things. As cities will first purge conservatives and rural with first purge commies.

From there, food, water, electricity, fuel, medicine, everything will be in short supply to simply unavailable. It will continue until one side is reduced, completely exhausted, and cannot take anymore punishment, not before. And, good luck if we think other countries will not stick their hands into it and make it even worse.

There won't be another civil war. Extremist groups and lone nuts will perform acts of terrorism and the government will crack down on them. If people are smart they won't side with the terrorists and if the government is smart it won't use the crackdowns to persecute their opponents.

We can't count on people or governments being smart, but the nuts and terrorists may be so extreme that most people aren't tempted to sympathize with them. If only a small sliver of the population sympathizes there can be trouble and chaos, but not a full-fledged civil war.

Mutual respect in Civil War I? In a sense, yes, the officers had been educated together, and the troops on both sides did have things in common. But I wouldn't exclude some mutual respect as a possibility if a new civil war were to break out. If both sides fight like hell, they'll find some respect for each other as fighters. There would be brutality and savagery, but we saw that in Civil War I as well.

You would think more folks would just try voting if they thought things were that bad. It was a very different time but I think I recall that eligible voter turnout was supposedly around 80% or so before the civil war. I don’t think we have cracked 65% in 100+ years.

I’m not sure civil wars can spark off when the poorest are the most likely to be obese.

Mr. Codevilla has written an excellent article that spells out precisely where we are and how we got here.

Almost all such articles say we are in dire straits and it's impossible to find our way back. Mr. Codevilla correctly lays this at the feet of the Democrat ruling class that created identity politics, nurtured the Balkanized groups to replace their lost Southern constituency, and made conservatives the open object of their hatred. These are scary times.
