“The Last Closet” was written by Moira Greyland. She’s the daughter of Marion Zimmer Bradley, author of “The Mists of Avalon” and Walter Breen. It is Marion Bradley’s book from which the book title is drawn. “The Last Closet: The Dark Side of Avalon” is equal parts autobiography and true-crime thriller with a tragic sprinkling of the history of science fiction fandom mixed in.

Marion Zimmer Bradley is fairly famous in Science Fiction/Fantasy circles. Her husband (Moira’s father) was a gay pedophile who went to prison for molesting young boys, with Bradley’s apparent collusion. Mom was a lesbian pedophile.

Much more detail here:

Marion Zimmer Bradley has been a large presence in the Science Fiction community.

It turns out, she and her husband were serial child abusers.

They pushed turning Western civilization away from Christianity.

They pushed a neo-pagan view of sexuality. Sex with anyone, any time anywhere, no limits on age, gender, incest, whatever.

The book exposes their insanity and perversity, if it is in line with interviews I have read of the author before.

Correction: You have not heard of these people or books.

We are all ignorant, just of different things.

From the interview:
The mentality was that until everyone was onboard with the philosophy of all sex all the time between all people of all ages, the family’s belief in doing these things had to be hidden.

I never read any of her stuff, it always seemed like it was all dreamcatchers and feathery celtic chick fantasy crappola to me. I remember reading the stuff her daughter wrote when she first came out with her horrendous disclosures. She seems like a very brave person.

If I recall the father was a rampant boy abuser, and the daughter taking flak because she deigned to be publicly critical of how she was abused by these homosexual monsters.

Yes, I stand corrected.

99.9999999% of people have never heard of these people or books.
That OK with you?

Incorrect.

If you are into coin collecting you know Walter Breen or are a reader of fantasy fiction you know Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Many of the current authors of books, movies and TV were heavily influenced by her and her writer's colony. In fact there was a time you had a hard time getting published if she opposed your brand of writing. She continued to be the major power for about two decades.

You are misinformed. 99.9999999% of the population of the earth would be all but 8 people. Marion Zimmer Bradly wrote over 75 science fiction/fantasy books, nearly all were commercial successes. There are many authors I have never heard of. It does not mean no one has.

So it’s 8 people.
OK, you win.

So are they any good? I actually think I have one or two from haunting the used book stores, but never read them. The mists of Avalon is the big one, right? I guess it would be kind of weird to read it now though, yeesh.

She was quite talented as was her husband in his own area.

She was also quite anti-Christianity although she tried to conceal it in her earlier books.

They are, technically, reasonably well written.

I have not read all of them, but the few I read left me with the impression they were meant to corrode the Christian worldview.

I recall a couple that left me with a queasy feeling.

Thanks. Think I will have to skip it. So far nothing like this that I am aware of has come out about authors I’m into. Knock on wood. It must have stunk to be fans of MZB and the curtain gets lifted to reveal something just horrendous.
