On a Friday afternoon in late July, a crowd of techies, military types and a few civilians deployed to the new Irvine, Calif., headquarters of Anduril Industries, a defense tech start-up, to sip hibiscus margaritas and admire the sensor towers and carbon-fiber drones on display. Dave Brubeck tinkled over the sound system, and the dress code skewed office casual and pastel, offset by the bright red pop of a lone Make America Great Again hat by the taco bar.
After an hour of socializing amid surveillance equipment, Palmer Luckey, the companys 26-year-old near-billionaire founder, mounted a stage for the ribbon-cutting. Luckey had wanted to use the companys namesake sword a legendary weapon in The Lord of the Rings wielded by the hero Aragorn for the ceremony. A replica of the movie prop hangs on the wall in the office, dramatically underlit with a purple bulb. But Luckey had just gotten back from his honeymoon and hadnt had time to sharpen it.

We don’t need virtual walls. These are all scams.
The main feature of any sort of virtual security, rather than actual physical security, is to allow the next Democrat to turn it off on Day 1.
Lets just hope the upcoming Spygate revelations can delay that day for many decades. At least until the Jackasses have disintegrated into several harmless fringe parties.
The last time I checked, stone or metal walls don’t have coding glitches, can’t be hacked and can’t be manipulated. It’s either there or its not. Has been working pretty good for the Chinese for how long? They’ve been working everywhere else in the world, where they’re used.
Unless his virtual wall has sensors attached to M240s and M2s, that will track you and shoot you when you cross, I could care less about his stuff.
“Virtual walls”
Code for “Open borders, but with extra money wasted.”
What’s already been revealed should have already led to the disbandment of the FBI, a full housecleaning at all other intelligence agencies, the shutting down of the DNC as a corrupt racketeering organization, and the incarceration of thousands of elite criminals.
Instead we got lots of useless talk and nobody even facing a single criminal charge.
Let’s let the invasion roll on, but we’ll take very expensive pictures as it happens.
26-year-old near-billionaire
Time to play the Lotto today.
Virtual walls are no defense against an 8-year-old walking across the border.
Think about it: if "virtual" border walls are so good, just think of all the money we could save if we built our jails, prisons, and penitentiaries with them.
If this guy can sell a Virtual Wall, no wonder he is a billionaire
Dave Brubeck tinkled over the sound system
Really? The musician who died in 2012? And, is that some sort of durability test?
I'm glad I'm not the poor fellow or gal who actually has to work on it! ;-)
“Dave Brubeck tinkled over the sound system,”
Toxic workplace environment. I’d have to quit or kill myself.
I remember tinkling over some speakers when I couldn’t find the bathroom at a beer party in 1971.
Virtual walls are 100% scam. Given our horrible laws, many illegals just want to get one foot into in the US, and turn themselves in. A physical wall prevents that from happening.
Also, as others have pointed out. There is nothing simpler to turn off or ignore than a “virtual wall”.
Yes, the border should be protected with real walls/barriers.
But, until then, some kind of monitoring system is needed.
And, even after real walls/barriers are in place, we’ll still need a virtual system to keep up with everyone trying to climb over or dig under the real walls.
Virtual walls are virtually useless. They do nothing to stop the flood of illegal enterers but instead only assist in their apprehension after they have already entered the USA and been granted the full spectrum of Leftist-created fake rights.
we already have a virtual wall. our military knows where they are and how many, and tracks them for many miles. so, why are these people not picked up by border patrol? because the military is not allowed to relay this information to them......
