Stop us if you've heard this before. According to Reuters, President Donald Trump said that Apple will follow his wishes by opening a U.S. factory in Texas. The president's comments were made the same day that he disseminated a tweet saying that he would not grant the tech giant a waiver that would prevent it from having to pay import taxes on parts for the Mac Pro imported from China. Trump also pointed out that if Apple made the parts in the states, it wouldn't face tariffs on them. While Apple designs its products in the U.S., many of them are actually manufactured in China. Even though there is a "truce" in the trade war between the U.S. and China, the already announced tariffs remain in place.
You might remember that in July 2017, Trump said that he was told by Apple CEO Tim Cook that the company was building "three big plants, beautiful plants." The only problem with that comment was that it was not true. Apple later denied that any such conversation took place and said that it certainly did not have plans to build any factories in the U.S.
Trump has had a love-hate relationship with Apple, calling for a boycott of the company back in February 2016. Apple had refused a court order to unlock the iPhone 5c that belonged to San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook. Apple refused to do so because it would have required that the company develop a special operating system for the government; Apple was afraid that the software could get into the wrong hands making all iPhones vulnerable to getting hacked.

Betcha AOC dont drag her arse to Texas to run Apple off. If she does she might get a big ole Texas boot in the azz.
Years age the foundations of a large chip factory were built at Ross Perot’s Alliance Airport but before the building was erected it was decide to build it in China to take advantage of their slave labor.
” parts for the Mac Pro imported from China”
I have a Macbook Pro, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Lots of problems with shift keys, and the gasket around the screen has started to come apart.
I’ll use it until I can’t. When it wears out, I will spend more time shopping for its replacement.
I worked in a Foxconn factory in Alliance for Co-worx as a human resources rep. The most money I ever made.
American jobs?
Das so raciss’!
I LOVE Texas and the south, but only SOMETIMES, there is more talking than action.
I assume you are referring to the fact that she drove amazon out of NYC.
Several things.
She is from here. I’m sure you’ll have your own detractors.
Another thing, when deblasio just MENTIONED thinking about taking down the Columbus Statue, we in Staten Island and other places gave him a Huge heads up to NOT take it down. Then one of our reps said we would take it to Staten Island before we let it be destroyed.
The south kinda let age old and important and symbolic statues and other things be taken down without any kind of fight, as far as I saw.
I think southern states are TOUGH AS NAILS, but they are not fast to break the law, and are classier and more gentlemanly in their responses.
We didn’t give a #$#$ whether it was gonna be legal or not to take the statue down.
All hell and a 100,000 WOPs, including me, would have shown up if he tried to take it down.
You see how Trump is. He FIGHTS.
And we would have fought.
De blasio backed down.
Texas is GREAT. But with its large liberal urban areas, and a few liberal judges here and there, it can have its own problems just like any other state.
I would LOVE to see Texans show up armed and ready to stop any nonsense down there.
No one could do it better.
And I would want Texans on my side in a fight. If they would have me.
But don’t underestimate the fight in certain parts of the north.
We’re outnumbered. But we haven’t given up.
ciao!
Too bad they didn’t try New York so that moron AOC could blow that deal, too.
*PING*
OOPS that *PING* was for the Apple List
I just moved a nice deer rifle to upstate NY near where my sister in laws from, as you said the urban areas weigh down the folks elsewhere and muffle the voices in those areas. A little more in your face around the country would be nice to see. Some in NYC could teach the course. To bad for them Amazon chose to bow to AOC BS.
Not sure if this is a good thing. So long they keep their west coast idiots out
Apparently it’s nice to people’s phone-toys and even nicer to control Warthog aircraft.
Wait....
They are NOT building the new plant in California, New York, or Illinois, but in low tax Texas??
Thats RASSIST!
What year was your MacBook Pro built?
Force them to set up someplace other than Austin and they’ll leave.
Not sure. Bought it in November 2016.
They are. They are expanding their Austin, TX complex by another 133 acres for at total of 21,200 employees. Austin is already too overcrowded. Thankfully, we didn’t get the new Amazon HQ.
The older 2013-2015 was much more reliable.
They really blew it with the keyboard and ports on the 2016-18 version
That sounds like around the time they were making the ones with the keyboard issues. I have one of those too. It’s a pain.
