I wake up every Monday saying to myself “let this be the week the Leftists see the light and abandon their path to oblivion.” It’s more like a prayer to St. Jude (patron saint of lost causes) than a genuine inquiry. To date my appeal remains unmet by either St. Jude or the Left.
This week’s evidence that their suicidal insanity continues unchecked comes from David Atkins, a Californian regional director for the Democratic Party and a Bernie Sanders supporter. He chose to follow in the cement footsteps of Hillary Clinton, attacking the hand that feeds him - talk about a lack of gratitude!
You know who is not grateful enough? Rural white Americans.

Kansas alone produces enough grain to make five loaves of bread for every person on earth.
IE, that’s enough to feed the entire world for one month.
If we have to give up either Manhattan, or Kansas, we would have to give up Manhattan, since we can’t exist without Kansas.
I’m from the Midwest and have yet to hear anyone complain that it’s ‘brown people that are hurting us,’ rather than government that is our problem. This liberal is a moron.
There is a fantastic opening sequence in “The Americans,” Season 5, where a Russkie choir sings “America the Beautiful” in Russian, contrasting these exact amber waves with the Russkie famines, empty shelves, breadlines, etc at the time.
Who woulda thought Hollywood could do that?
Excellent series for those of us who lived it. I worked around the aerospace space industry at the time and had near daily reminders of the cold war in action. I vividly remember one episode where they Russians were trying to develop insects that would ruin our grain crops. Spooky stuff when you think about it. Helps me maintain a skepticism about companies like Monsanto messing with the plant genetics.
I watched “The Day After,” and though I realized I was being manipulated, it was still terrifying.
Ronald Reagan does not get nearly enough credit for trying to ABOLISH nuclear weapons-—a goal he had from the 1960s. When he met Gorby in Geneva, Gorby thought he’d surprise Reagan with a proposal of a 50% cut in nukes. Reagan said, “Well, why not 100%.” Gorby was taken aback, and quickly fell back on his red herring, “You have to throw in Star Wars.” Reagan refused, closed up his binders, and walked out. Gorby trotted after him: “Mr. President, I don’t know what else I could have done.” Reagan, with fire in his eyes, turned and said, “You could have said YES” and got in his limo. Reagan seethed all the way back to (as I recall) Greenland where he had a speech. According to Regan or Schultz, in the limo with him (I forget who, and don’t want to check my own book), Reagan was so distracted and upset he kept shuffling his speech note cards. He really thought we had achieved a total elimination of nukes.
