The entire Harvey Weistein / #metoo thing has been utterly corrosive to popular entertainment. Hollywood people are horrible people for the most part. They have used the casting couch for a century and that's not about to change. But they feel a need to virtue signal as a means of inoculating themselves from being called out on their behavior. So for the past couple of years Hollywood has been determined to show that they are super supportive of women by giving them the lead in everything with some sort of super wonderful all powerful flawless character that's just soooo perfect.

I seriously object to a bunch of sexist deviants lecturing me on the patriarchy with a bland, boring Mary Sue protagonist but they keep on doing it and I keep on not going.

Thank you for that non sequitur in regards to Sean Connery. The 007 designation, to the many fans of Ian Fleming and his Bond stories IS James Bond, that is who the stories have always been about, not some unknown that has had that particular license to kill assigned to after James Bond retires, er, quits, er, is killed, er some other bullshit.

Screwing with the premise in this manner is worse that the joke a minute Roger Moore incarnation of James Bond.......they and all their social engineering idiots are welcome to it.

It isn't a non sequitur - it's entirely relevant. Fleming sold the rights to his creation to Hollywood. After that, any changes to the characters, story line or the James Bond universe are pretty much up to any scriptwriter hired by the owner of those rights. That was the case when Fleming was alive to express an opinion and it's certainly the case now. And quite frankly, having some other character get the 007 designation for one movie while the Bond character is taking a vacation in the story or whatever is a pretty minor change - they could do far more.

"007" is just Bond's code name in the stories, assigned to him by British intelligence. Bond has reflected on other "00" agents who're no longer active in the novels. And that's apparently what's going to happen in this next movie. Maybe Bond is on sabbatical or something, and some other agent gets the code name in the meantime. I think it's funny that this has so much meaning to people on both sides of the political divide.

If memory serves, the franchise tried floating Halle Berry as the female counterpart to James Bond back around twenty years ago when she co-starred in a Bond flick. (Never saw it though.)

Saw her TV Guide promo interview, and quite frankly, she came off as "the lights may be on, but nobody's home" as we used to say in HS.

Not all blacks, just those the Left has successfully conditioned. Just like its only the whites that the Left has succesfully conditioned who feel guilty about having white privilage. The esca2oe from this conditioning is to just treat people as people, and only take color into account when it makes sense, just like any other characteristic. And again what has Fleming not caring for Sean Connery got to do with the bastardization of his creation, at least while Connery was playing Bond they stayed fairly close to the stoires, then they went full clown act with Moore(I bet Fleming would have loved Moore’s smarmy idiocy). I don’t give a hoot in hell about who has the rights and how it’s their ‘right’ to screw up the franchise and kill it. Because that’s the bottom line they are killing the franchise with this crap, if you want to spend your money for PC bullshit that’s up to you

He was a devout Catholic, and refused to portray a womanizer. He turned down enormous fame and wealth for his scruples. He actually recommended Connery to the studio.
