True. You must remember, though, about California producing 90% of our veggies (allegedly, IMHO), half of their agricultural land in the Central Valley is still effectively walled off by that stupid judicial ruling protecting the delta smelt (basically a bait fish).

I generally like food that was vegetarian.

I don’t like many veggies. Spinach, OK.
Walmart didn’t seem to have a shortage of anything.
No Wax Beans. My favorite.
Had to go to Publix to get ‘em.
Expensive, but, necessary.
Bought out the full shelf.
Also, Walmart hasn’t had any Maxwell House Instant Coffee for over a year.
I won’t drink anything else.
I bought out the whole shelf at Publix.
These are Hard Times...

avoid the 'easy open' pull tabs as they are unreliable for long term storage.
Thank you for the information!

I have 6 months supply of dog food for a 20lb dog. Should I, when the SHTF, and we all run out of food, eat a scrawny dog, or do I eat the dog first and then have 80lbs. of dog food to eat?? What to do..what to do?
Your comment made it worth my time reading this post. At least to the point I read your comment.
I realized that this was a leftist site onlty concerned about add revenue and Socialist propaganda when I came across this article on their site,
"""
I dont know how I can maintain this face of joy and warmth when I have to go home and forage for food in other peoples garbage""""
You tell me if this is not a leftist propaganda site trying to convince peppers that the Country sucks during one of the greatest economic boons we have seen in the last 40 years?
Just my opinion, but anthing from this site should be banned from being posted on FR.

There is going to be a bit of a seed shortage too, although I’m not sure yet how bad its going to be. Those of you who garden, I suggest ordering your seeds for next year as early as you can manage. Especially with heirloom or open-pollinated varieties, there will be many varieties that have extremely limited quantities, or are pulled from the catalog altogether.
(I’m a seed-producer for an heirloom seed company. I and many other growers are experiencing the same delays and crop failures that the food-crop farmers are dealing with.)

Use canned peas to make the base for split pea soup. Just whiz them in a blender. No need for soaking or long simmering like the dried ones, and you don’t even notice the mushiness anymore.

Your revolations sounds familiar.
Just wondering.
Did yo also suffer through copious amounts off powder milk, canned powder eggs, and government cheese?

From the beginning of time salt has been preserver. Thus it make perfect sense that salt is used in copious amounts to preserve things that are canned.

This is an update to you re: my Walmart/ bare veggie shelves
There were more cans last night, 7/20/2019, but still not fully stocked.
Weirdly, the opposite side of the aisle where the instant mashed potatoes, boxed potatoes (like Betty Crocker Scalloped Potatoes), boxed Macaroni type meals/sides were empty.

My Walmart has no such issues. So either your Walmart is very heavily used, the manager is incompetent, or you are going to the store at the wrong time. I'm not there to assess it so all I can do is theorize as to what the issue is at your Walmart.
Have you asked the store manager why so many items seem to be consistently unavailable?
To: Robert DeLong
Funny since you are in Louisiana, right next door to Texas, that we have product shortages, and you don’t.
I haven’t asked. We have that same product shortages notice the other Walmarts have taped on the shelves that are scarcely stocked.
