Republicans worry that the NRA and two other groups that have long formed the core of their electoral infrastructure will be effectively on the sidelines.

The National Rifle Association aired an avalanche of TV ads and pushed its 5 million-plus members to the polls for Donald Trump in 2016, propelling him in the Rust Belt states that delivered him the presidency.

It’s hogwash, but . . .

Wayne LaPierre has become a swamp creature. He needs to go. the NRA needs to revise its charter to place term limits on high level officers.

Then they can go about winning back many gun owners. Like this one.

The NRA abandoned gun owners along time ago. Wayne La Pierre at one time worked for a dim, that causes me concern as to where his loyalties li. Once he and some of the other entrenched sycophants on the BOD are gone, the organization perhaps will return to its purpose again. Until then no more money for them. My money does not need to be spent on exorbitant suits, huge legal bills and travel to resorts in Europe. They need to stand up for all gun owners and not cave in on issues.

"The pro-gun crowd will vote overwhelmingly for Trump, NRA or no NRA."

Yes, except for a large number of Democrats who like firearms. But the NRA spent $30 million dollars to help President Trump get elected, and not all Republican voters are members of the pro-gun crowd.

Case in point, the yowls from quite a few people for a particular woman over Kavanaugh for Supreme Court justice. Can't remember her name, offhand. When asked, some of those people replied that they didn't care about Second Amendment issues. They were focused on abortion and Catholicism only.

This kind of thing hasn’t happened since 1984. So we know this writer is FOS.

The NRA has been infiltrated, I’m afraid, and betrayed by Wayne LaPierre. The ILA was the last bastion of effective sanity within the organization. With Chris Cox gone it’s going to take an intervention by the rank and file members to set LaPierre and the board straight, if we have to ride him out on a rail. As a Life Member (And lifelong member) I am not optimistic at this point.

If Trump pushes for a suppressor ban, then I’m not supporting him any longer. That major concession means none of his second amendment ‘convictions’ are sacred.

And I’m a Trump donor and was a NH volunteer.

It’s time for Wayne to retire and yield to Ollie and Uncle Ted.

I had pondered what a great job Dana Loesch might do at the helm of the NRA in a previous thread???

Fortunately and unfortunately, we wont need the NRA to remind people of why we need our guns. All one needs to do is watch an MSM nightly newscast.

I need the NRA to let Trump know that banning “silencers” is not cool.

The pro-gun crowd will vote overwhelmingly for Trump, NRA or no NRA.

And that will be especially true, after a campaign in which the hard-Left Democrat candidate pushes more stupid "gun control" laws.

This kind of biased article is interesting, though, because it reveals how the Left views gun owners (and conservatives in general). To the Left, we're just a bunch of slack-jawed yokels, who couldn't generate a single thought, let alone get to the polls, without help from someone else.

I watched a rerun of an old Hollywood tv series recently - the episode was entirely based on that "liberal" point of view. The plot concerned a sniper, who was shooting individuals at random. But the biggest threat, according to the script writer, were all of the mindless gun owners, who suddenly started committing "copy-cat" crimes. The viewer was advised that, if the heroic federal cops didn't catch the sniper immediately, the "copy-cat" crimes by American gun-owners would increase exponentially (apparently into the tens of thousands or more).

In other words - simply owning a gun means you're not only an idiot, but a homicidal idiot, just waiting to be "triggered" by some random event or individual.

Don't EVER expect reasonable firearms legislation from the D@mocrats - their worldview won't allow it...
