The Miami Beach problem has nothing whatever to do with sea level rise. It is a civil engineering problem of almost unimaginable magnitude
Contrary to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) statement that it is very likely sea level rise is accelerating, the highest quality coastal tide gauges from around the world show no evidence of acceleration since the 1920s. Local and regional sea levels continue to exhibit typical natural variability, unrelated to changes in the global average sea level say a number of recent reports.
A new policy brief from The Heartland Institute shows there is no evidence of acceleration in the rise of global sea levels since the 1920s and concludes the (IPCC) concerns over this issue is without merit. 1
acceleration is the operative term here.
global warming is a natural, cyclical, and variable phenomenon. Just because your city would be under water in 250 year doesn’t mean that coastline was supposed to stay the same forever
Whackos and flat Earthers won't have me believe anything. If fact, whatever diarrhia they spout, I bet on the opposite happening. (psst...I picked Trump to win before the primary and pocketed a cool $9k)
Climate change advocates are not scientists. They are political activists who haven’t got a clue about the scientific method. Those real scientists who have agreed to go along with their political cause are doing it to score their next big grant. The big loser is science itself.
Actually there hasn't been any noticeable Sea Level rise (except between Low Tide and High Tide) for three decades at least.

Remember all those Pacific and Indian Ocean island countries we were assured years ago would be under water by now? Still there.
Finally...someone who can look into the photo record from the 1800’s
I’m sure it was the GOP-e who gave them a clue. /LOL
When ocean temperatures fall the planet will start cooling
Most of the warming is in the Arctic right now...

The short version:
A 2001 Salon magazine terror in the skies alarmism featured a Dr. James Hansen late 1980s prediction that New
York Citys West Side Highway would be under water within 20 years. Of course the West Side Highway is not under water today.
Heres what David Middleton says about Kann, His scientific qualifications consist of a BA in magazines, an MS in journalism, about 10 years of experience as a video producer. 13
In a thorough analysis, heres what Kip Hansen points out:
The Miami Beach problem has nothing whatever to do with sea level rise. It is a civil engineering problem of almost unimaginable magnitude. This city has been built for all intents and purposes almost precisely at predictable, recurring sea levels. It is already inescapably flooding from normal predicted tides and it will continue to flood unless sea level drops a foot or two, which is not going to happen during this millennium.
Miami Beach is at such grave risk of sea water flooding today that it should preemptively be declared a disaster zonenot because of global warming driven sea level rise but due to a seeming total lack of sensible civil engineering standards and sensible building codes. Much of the above-ground infrastructure of Miami Beach was originally built on land in areas known to be below historical highest water levels (maximum), and some of it built below normal highest tide levels. To make matter much worse, much of it is intentionally connected to the sea by canals cut for this purpose.
Sea level rise, regardless of cause is a peripheral, minor issue to the problems Miami Beach has with the seaMiami Beach is already a century behind in implementing mitigation efforts it it wishes to survive in the long run as a viable modern city.

Could not agree more. Absolutely one of the largest scams of the modern era. I am an older student going back to get my degree and I can tell you the professors spouting this bile are opportunists and snake oil salesmen. Its pretty disturbing to sit through courses that are full of this garbage. I do not take it lying down but its usually a tough slog to get a reasonable comment or paper on the subject objectively graded or viewed. I have to admit I do like the challenge of trashing the world view of these people. The students included.
When I was in Graduate School, I was in a program controlled by the Geography and Geology Departments. The Geographers were busy replacing their WWII vet faculty with political activists. The Geolgists, both on the academic side and the mining/oil side were still hard core scientists. That has changed over time, and the scientists are very much in the minority. Those who don’t have tenure are doomed.
The rule of thumb is that the sea level rises about 2-3mm/year. Big deal.
Of course, the act of measuring the height of the ocean to that level of accuracy isn't possible. What would you use as a reference?
I second that - been on the Gulf Coast since ‘86 and you get used to the water marks and where the tides reach at different times of year/phases of moon and my eyes tell me you are correct.
In about 1,000 there might be a problem in Florida. It's a joke to think about it now.
80mm/24 years = 3.33mm/year
