Video evidence shows that recycling hurts the environment, and landfills help the environment

Video evidence shows that recycling hurts the environment, and landfills help the environment

Below are two videos.

The first video shows that much of the recycled garbage from rich countries (the U.K. in this case) gets sent to poor countries, where it just sits there on the ground without any covering or protection, getting blown around, and often ending up in rivers and ultimately the ocean.

The second video shows a landfill in a rich country (New York in this case). The landfill is well sealed and covered, and is now a park with grass, trees, plants, and animals.

Recycling is a scam. It makes people feel good, but it actually hurts the environment instead of helping it. The environment would be a lot better off if we stopped recycling, and put our garbage into landfills. The proof is in the videos.

I recently read that China stopped taking the recycling from the US.

Outside of metal it makes no sense to recycle.

US could cut 10% of its environmental footprint by deporting illegal aliens.

But then the oligarchy would not have the votes it needs to launder billions of dollars via “redistribution”.

Much of kraft linerboard (brown cardboard) uses some recycled pulp. Boxes can be readily baled and shipped back to paper mills for reuse. However, wood fiber looses strength when repulped, so virgin pulp has to make up most of the mix.

I’ve said this here before: The day someone offers to buy your trash you will know that recycling makes economic sense. Until then it’s just a liberal feel-good scam paid for (as always) with tax dollars, and another way to make people be sheep.

My area decided to stop taking glass for recycling. And Slope top cartons like milk cartons. Not economically feasible anymore.

They already don’t take metals.

What then is the point? What about the planet which was their original argument for running 2 trucks to pick up trash?

Screw ‘em...I quit. They can bury it all.

I recently read that China stopped taking the recycling from the US.

Interestingly enough, 86% of all the plastic pollution in the ocean comes from the Asian continent with China being the #1 polluter.

It wouldn't surprise me that if we are sending our trash to China and paying them to take it, they might just be dumping it in theirs rivers.....

It would also help if we used glass containers that had a return deposit where possible. A lot of beer already comes in glass bottles or aluminum cans. People can sell the aluminum and it would be great if there was a return on the glass.

As a kid we made money by finding Coke bottles and returning them for spending money.

“Outside of metal it makes no sense to recycle.”

What happens to all of the non-biodegradable plastics that are just thrown in a dump?they stay there for millions of years.

All plastics should be recycled.I just read recently that waste plastics can be converted to fuel oil.We should use it.

If it has been "recycled" it has by definition been reused and what is stated above is nonsensical. Dumping UNRECYCLED garbage in 3rd world sh!tholes is not a nice thing to do, though.

“The day someone offers to buy your trash you will know that recycling makes economic sense”

Scrapers have always bought metal trash and you can get money today for your bin of metal. They also make agreements with large producers of scrap metal and will pay them for picking it up. Metal is definitely worth it.

I’ve seen a few private plastic recyclers open around here in industrial areas.

Recycling is 100% worth it when the material is collected in sufficient bulk. However, picking up every home’s bagged tin cans with massive trucks is 100% stupidity

I don’t get it. If governments want to encourage recycling, why not offer tax breaks to biz that use recycled materials?

The more you need to encourage the recycling of certain materials for whatever reason, the bigger the tax break.

Has that been tried anywhere?

Burn it all at very high temps. Minimum toxic smoke produced and the ash can be used in things like highway construction.

My city recently gave us big rolling trash and recycling bins. The blue bin is somewhere behind my house. Unused

Your truth is not truth. The truth is that 95% of plastic waste in the ocean is from several rivers in China, Bangladesh and Vietnam.

NOT AMERICA

What happens to the trash they clean up from the oceans after they get it on land? They want me to send money to them for taking it out of the ocean. It might make me feel morally superior.
