All too true.
I loved the movie as a kid, and still like it, but always noticed the good girl became bad.
Kinda a microcosm of America. It’s dull and white to be good, so let’s go for the lowest common denominator!
The Lorenzo Lamas character was a big dumb putz, but Danny was basically good and he loved Sandy.
Trust me. All the girls wanted Sandy to be with Danny.
Love Gease. The movie, stage productions right down to the middle school drama club productions. But nothing beats My Fair Lady in my humble opinion.

It was a rush. Whatever town we were playing in we would have a 11:00 a.m. rehearsal with all the acts on the card. Chuck would never show up for that. I was 19 at the time and I asked him why he missed rehearsal, he said if you don’t know my songs you shouldn’t even be here. Which is true. One time in Milwaukee at SummerFest he missed the matinee show, he called the promoter from the airport and ask if he was going to get paid for both shows. As the story goes the promoter asked him, why should I? And Chuck said, because if you don’t I’m hopping on a plane back to St. Louis. He got paid for both shows.
He would rarely tune his guitar before a gig, and would never tell anyone on stage what key the song he was playing was in. We had to run up to his amp and then yell to everyone on stage E or G or whatever the key was. But after about the third gig we had written all the keys down of every song he played.
Whenever we played with the Dick Clark Show, we use to stop off at a neighborhood Italian deli the day before and pick up a bunch of Italian food they didn’t have at these festivals, like pepperoni sticks, provolone, genoa salami and so on, the works. And in between shows we would invite Dick Clark and all the acts into our trailer for some lunch. Everyone would show up. We did it everytime we played with them. Sometimes Dick Clark, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley would see us walking to our trailer with all these grocery bags and start yelling at us, “We’re coming to your trailer in between shows.” Chuck would yell, save me a hot pepperoni stick. he would take one for himself and a loaf of baguette.
One time I sat next to Chuck Berry in the trailer and asked him how he came up with his famous Duck Walk. He told me when he was a child he use to squat down and walk like a chicken under the tables, bobbing his head back and forth. So when he started to preform on stage he would squat down and walk like a chicken on stage. One night he tripped over his guitar cord and to keep his balance he stuck his foot out and did that Duck Walk step, actually by accident. The crowd started to scream, so he did it back the other way. They screamed some more so he did it all night long. I thought that was pretty cool to hear that story from the horses mouth. Once time in Chicago at Chicagofest in between shows, Bo Diddley took me to Maxwell St. in a cab. Everyone knew him and he knew everyone there. I had a blast.
A show that presents as the path to social acceptance the decision to embrace the appearance and manners of a slut.
Singing in the Rain was the best movie musical. Best musical period was Guys and Dolls.
Sure, because he actually had a good side to him. But no, she gave it up but he didn’t...got to go right back to being the phoney “cool” jackass.
I’m a girl. I should know. And Lamas was GORGEOUS (how do you know he was dumb). I knew it even then, but especially as a couple more years passed.

I was 10 or so, and we got to see it, but much of the sex stuff flew over my head. We just thought it was funny HOW she said “...with relish!”
Nah. Still haven’t even sat thru it.

Probably a long shot but did you ever cross paths with Albert King, Albert Collins, or Freddie King? Those guys are my “Big 3” blues guitar heroes.

He WAS gorgeous.
That’s some awesome life experiences and cool stories. I have no regrets in my life, but if I could, there’s more I wish I could squeeze in. Being a musician would be up on that list. My mom tried to teach me piano as a child but I didn’t have the interest. I did play a little guitar when I was young, but nothing to brag about, and I could never succeed as a singer with my voice. No range at all. LOL
Never understood why they had a disco song as the theme to a movie that takes place in the 50s.
