Trump Tweets That Violate Twitter's Rules Will Now Get A Warning Label

Twitter will add warning labels to tweets from world leaders that break its rules following years of public criticism and uncertainty around contentious posts from Donald Trump and other politicians.

On Thursday, the San Francisco-based company introduced a new policy for tweets from well known government officials that violate its policies on abuse, harassment, and violent threats. Instead of removing the violative posts, it will put them behind a warning notice. That notice will explain that a tweet was found to be in violation of Twitter’s policies, but has been allowed to remain on the platform because the company believes it to be in “the public’s interest.”

...Pending positive party affiliation identification. Dems will have their privileges restored upon verification and also receive a special “Dodge the Ban-Hammer” code that they can enter to lift any future suspensions.

I am of the opinion that the President could “break” Twitter by announcing his move to an alternate platform. One especially known to be politically neutral.

Right. Are you proposing increased government interference in private business?

This could be interesting — because a federal court has already ruled that Trump’s twitter feed is actually a government source, and therefore Trump can’t block people or censor what is on it.

So, if Trump can’t, how can Twitter?

This pretty much ensures Trump a landslide in the election. A pissed off voter is a motivated voter.

Fine with me. Then we can all see how they judge. It might end up damaging their reputation.

I think our main man Jim Robinson should start a twitter-like site in which he can apply his rules. But isn’t FreeRepublic good enough? Not if he operates it as place with no political slant, and does not associate it with FreeRepublic.

Who the %^&*%$ do they think they are?

Wasn’t the internet invented by the government and paid for by the taxpayers? Maybe we should tell Google, Facebook and Twitter they are violating OUR terms of service and shut them down. Deny them use of the internet

This is called “poisoning the well”, skewing audience perceptions and reducing the odds someone will read it.

Facebook does this by warning something is fake news or contradicted by other sources.

It is deliberate interference in the distribution of the content without explicitly banning it. They do that, too.

Big Tech systematically shuts down such conservative rivals. Gab.AI was a Twitter alternative, and Google and Apple both excluded it from the Appstore. Google downgraded it in search results and prohibited ads for it, too. Given Google’s exclusive data mining relationship with Google, they could be prosecuted for that alone as anti-competitive practices.

Then there’s the very illegal financial and Big Tech collusion. Freestartr defended free speech, and Chase and Paypal coordinated with Big Tech to hide them from the public and cut off funding and data sharing. Subscribestar initially resisted the “ban our hate list agents or we cut you off”, then caved.

That is a collusion by all big tech firms AND payment processors. Youtuber Law has described how illegal that is, and it is a clear violation of laws against firms intentionally killing competition.
