I remember when the song came out. It took me a while to decide if I liked it. I like it.

First I have heard of “Yatch Rock” as a musical genre.

Back then I would put her album on the record player and read some Carlos Castaneda.

That was such a great song. There was so much variety and innovation in pop songs back then unlike today.

Where and when did this “yacht rock” name originate? It’s like it popped up everywhere this week. What in the world?

She sounds sexy and I like the smooth guitar. What more is needed?

Melissa Manchester and Jennifer Warnes would be pretty good on Yacht Rock.

I have zero idea what the term Yacht Rock means.

I do however love this song. Mostly because of he playful/whimsical way of singing the lyrics

Mark Steyn had her on an audio version of his show, though singing "Aba Daba Honeymoon" rather than "Midnight at the Oasis". (https://www.steynonline.com/7666/aba-daba-honeymoon)

Those who like "Midnight at the Oasis" might try listening to her follow-up hit from the '70s, "I'm a Woman". Not quite Yacht Rock, but still pretty easy listening.

One of the hits featuring Jim Gordon, on drums.

Mrs Submareener and I caught Warren Zevon’s last tour in Annapolis, MD in 1999. She was there and sang the song. Fantastic!

Saw her at Armadillo World Headquarters right after this song came out. She showed up two hours late, sang about five songs and left. Good voice, but she torpedoed her own career.

If we are going to have yacht rock as a musical genre, row boat rap cannot be far behind

I’ll take Symphonic Metal (or any Metal) or Oi!/Punk Rock/Hard Rock any day. No offense. I love many types of music, but not so much that one.

I love Yacht Rock. For me, I call it “First Drink Late in the Afternoon Rock”.

Ah yes, Midnight at the Oasis...send your camel to bed...

I loved this song the minute it came out. An old beau in the music biz told me I loved it because I looked and sounded like Maria Muldaur...wonder how she looks today. I’m holding up pretty well, hope she is too.

Heaven’s holdin’ a half-moon
Shinin’ just for us
Let’s slip off to a sand dune
Real soon and kick up a little dust
