WASHINGTON — In rare public remarks, Justice Clarence Thomas on Monday dismissed what he called “this rumor that I was retiring.” “I have no idea where this stuff comes from,” he said. Justice Thomas, in a relaxed and reflective mood, was interviewed by David Rubenstein, a financier and philanthropist, in the Supreme Court’s courtroom as part of a series of lectures sponsored by the Supreme Court Historical Society.

He better scoff at retirement! His consistent historically accurate views are a rarity and a gem to be valued. Praying PRAYING that he will not go anywhere until a suitable replacement is identified and suitably trained. Justice Thomas has proven to be among the rarified gems that have served on the SCOTUS.

Justice Thomas is an American hero. A true patriot. A giant. One thing Bush 41 did right.

I can think of few men who more deserve a long and peaceful retirement.

I can also think of few men who have a greater destiny to fulfill for our nation’s freedom.

God bless and protect Justice Thomas.

He should retire while we hold the Senate and the WH! This is why Liberals are mad at Ginsberg!

Dear Lord please let Justice Thomas live long and in good health, and serve on the Supreme Court until You return.

It’s time for Tomas to go. He’s been on the court 35 years. Let’s put a 40 year old replacement. I’m sick of these justices thinking they should be on the court til death. Thomas, Alito, RBG, Breyer, Sotomyer, and Roberts are all over 60 and need to step down.

"...I’m sick of these justices thinking they should be on the court til death..."

Yeah, to hell with the Constitution, and take the 2nd Amendment with it.

I love Justice Thomas and think him the finest legal mind on the SCOTUS.

That said, he is 70 and given the razor thin 5-4 majority protecting many of our constitutional rights, I’d rather he retired and allowed President Trump to appoint a much younger Strict Constructionist Justice to keep that seat secure. In my worst nightmares, a Democrat gets in office in 2020 and is able to not only replace Leftists to replace Breyer/RBG/the wide Latina but also Justice Thomas.

This is why I support Convention of States and term limits for Supreme Court justices. In 1789 the longevity now common was a great rarity. William o Douglas, Thurgood Marshall etc., ancient, demented, incontinent, staying in the bench years after they should be done is not what the founders intended

US Constitution, Article III, Section 1

"...The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour..."

Nothing about term limit, only "good behaviour." If you want to change that you need to do it right.

Sorry for the hyperbole.

I know and I like Thomas and others and if we were guaranteed the presidency for the next 10 years, I’d be all for them sticking around. But....
