Lol! Thanks for the wonderful story.
I hadn’t heard the term “sighthound” before.
Sighthounds as opposed to scent hounds. Theyre all in the Hound category in AKC.
Sighthounds include a BUNCH of different breeds of dog. = The sole things that they have in common is that they run game by SIGHT, rather than by scent/smell.
SOME of those breeds are: Afghans, Asian/Russian Wolfhounds, Basenghis, Borzois, Grand Griffon Vendeens, Greyhounds (several different varieties), Irish/Scottish Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, Ibizan hounds, Lurchers, Pharaoh Hounds, Podenco Caninarios, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Salukis, Scottish Deerhounds, Silky Windhounds, Sloughis, Thai Ridgebacks & Whippets.
Hoping that that helps. = Some sorts of sighthounds appear/act quite different than the way that other sighthounds look. = For example, Irish Wolfhounds look very different (and have a VERY different personality) than a whippet BUT both breeds are sighthounds.

Btw, our “Bounce” came back to “Mama” looking very pleased with himself, so he must have believed that he did well in the chase.
(The TRUTH is that you are wasting your time trying to CATCH a loose sighthound as even Usain Bolt, the Olympic sprinter, cannot run over 40MPH. = Afghans CAN “run down” a cheetah, as cheetahs have GREAT speed but only for short distances.)
An Afghan Hound in good shape can run “full throttle” for HOURS & furthermore a male/female pair (as they once were used for hunting in Asia) can “take down” & KILL a leopard.
