One factor in popularity could be that back during the Pete Rose era, there were only three main channels on TV.
Now, there are over 3000, if counting cable, podcasts and streamed programs. Also, many people will tape games to watch later when they want to.
Do they still have Double Header Games?
I suspect, not as often as before, since many say today’s younger fans have a shorter attention span for games than their dads or grandads may have had.
Baseball ceased to be America’s sport when the players decided to axe the world series in 1994. I’ve never watched a game since. Eff ‘em.
1968 was a magical year. Back then, all the World Series games were played in the afternoon, IIRC. I remember rushing home from school so I could watch whatever was left of the games.
The star of that World Series was Micky Lolich. He pitched and won 3 of the 4 games it took for the Tigers to win. Not only that, he pitched 3 complete games. No relievers. And, in game 2, Lolich hit the only homer of his career.
I have a family member who rolls through the channels constantly, and it's actually worse when there are fewer channels. When I'm at their house, the cable channel menu is on the screen about 10 percent of the time. Very annoying.
Mike Trout

I saw Johnny Bench lose a game at Dodger Stadium through an error — catcher interference. Not an everyday occurrence.
“Do they still have Double Header Games?”
Not scheduled, but they end up playing double headers when they make up games that were postponed because of weather. Usually, when they do, they have day/night doubleheaders-first game played around 1 pm local time, second game played about 7 pm local time.
Irrelevant, only that it was the only reason to make a name connection. She is somewhat memorable, he is just another boring bazeball player.
But odds are they know Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
If you don’t like baseball, why do you bother yourself posting to a thread about it? Why don’t you pay attention to things you like instead? Or, or you’re just one of those people who like to feel superior by trashing things others enjoy?
Will comment about anything I want to.
Hostile aren’t you? PTSD?
I can’t name a single network news anchor or Oscar contender or Grammy nominee.
Times have changed.
But I know who Altuve is

Sports today is basically all about rooting for the laundry. Nobody knows anything about the players wearing the laundry.
Remember when fans actually used to keep score during a game?
it was gruesome..he was working on his dump truck..had the rear end off the ground. He crawled under the truck...but he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt...and the hood got caught in the turning driveshaft...ugh..r.i.p. Mark..
And I used to take him to Montreal Expo games when he was a kid.
