The Real Democratic Agenda
Washinton Free Beacon ^ | 5-10-2019 | Matthew Continetti

Posted on 05/12/2019 6:24:53 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

And you thought Democrats won the House out of fear Republicans would drop coverage of preexisting conditions. That they wanted to spend this Congress addressing the cost of prescription drugs, building roads and bridges, resolving the legal status of DACA recipients, expanding gun background checks. Don't be silly! Rashida Tlaib let spill the real Democratic agenda back in January, when she said they were going to "impeach the motherf—er."

(snip)

What changed? President Trump's preference for confrontation over consensus is part of the reason, but only a part. Congress and the president fight all the time. The reality is that impeachment talk is the only thing holding the Democrats together. Pelosi's heralded agenda is a flop. Her party is divided on health care, on immigration, on abortion. Whatever legislation she does pass is destined to meet the Grim Reaper in the Senate. The two-dozen 2020 candidates are uninspiring. There's no war to defund. And the economic headlines are dynamite.

Legal warfare against Trump obscures these weaknesses. Doesn't matter if no voter brings up Mueller outside the Beltway. Without teasing impeachment, no one would care about Democrats inside the Beltway. Two of three cable news channels are desperate for Trump scandals, real or imagined. The Democrats might as well give it to them. Or at least pretend to....

This is not a serious party. It has abandoned policy for litigation, and common sense for fantasies of Medicare for All, Green New Deals, abortion after birth, and slavery reparations. The Democrats assume impeachment will be Trump's Watergate. It may well turn out to be their Waterloo.

The Democrats have existed on falsehoods for decades. Their failure has only fueled the grandiosity of their lies. Remember when John Kerry’s running mate, Edwards, promised the they would heal paraplegics? They’ve gotten further off the rails.

These does seem to be the case. Dems have no serious policies. They are sort of at the level of “let’s give everyone a million dollars”. I suppose they feel this sort of thing (Green New Deal, or whatever) sounds like a sweet campaign promise, but you obviously cannot govern like that. It just doesn’t work.

Beyond “Orange Man Bad” they really have nothing. And as the American people realize that the Orange Man isn’t Bad at all, the Democrats have 100% nothing.

Don’t forget that some are advocating wealth confiscation and redistribution. It starts with the ultra rich, who will quickly move their assets offshore, but will rapidly spread to the well off and then your 401k.

The long-term goal is to overthrow the existing social order and replace it with communism. The tactics and the ideology driving them are right out of Marx and Hegel.

The Democrats' strategy:

"Unleash committee chairmen to fire their subpoena cannons in every direction.

"Make unrealistic demands of Attorney General Barr.

"Have Swalwell and Lieu and the rest of the cable gang keep alive the conspiracy theory that the Trump campaign was in criminal cahoots with Russia.

"Drag out the process into next year, when a weakened and bedraggled Trump faces the eventual Democratic nominee."

Exhaust the American People with endless histrionics! Calls for "investigations"! Wild accusations! Hysterical fear mongering! Steele-dossier-type fictions! Blatant lies! Propaganda! Falsifications! Concoctions! Cock-and-bull stories!

PRAY THAT THEIR EVIL CONSPIRACY FAILS!

Dems have no serious policies.

*************

All they want to do is accuse, blame and attack. I think the American people are getting sick and tired of their never ending negativity and bizarre behavior. If they keep this up they will suffer a crushing and humiliating defeat in 2020. And it will be richly deserved.

One thing I have to pick bones with Continetti is this -

"President Trump's preference for confrontation over consensus is part of the reason, but only a part."

After how many years (even decades) of Democrats bad faith negotiation with the Republicans, he (and probably his father-in-law) still rather build 'consensus'. IOW, the same old 'doing business' in Washington DC.

SMH.

I surely hope so, but . . .
The Democrats and their allies in the GOP-E will run a third party candidate to siphon off Trump votes, with all their election fraud aiding and abetting, to squeak out a victory.
The Democrats will put up a Biden/Harris ticket, with the hidden selling point being that when the Old White Guy dies in office, we'll have the first black woman president.

Tiny Dancer articulately described the Democrat agenda:
Win
Power
How they use that power is minor. The important thing is that they have the power to tell us how to dance and when to jump. The name of the dance and the music playing is minor.

Separately, ABC interviewer had not clue what Medicare is and how it works in his interview with Cory Booker. Cory Booker politely refused to expose the ignorance of the ABC interviewer.
