SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) A recent college graduate from New Mexico who had just landed his dream job as a fishing guide in Russia was among those killed when an airliner burst into flames during an emergency landing in Moscow.
Jeremy Brooks, 22, of Santa Fe was remembered Monday as a fly-fishing expert by his former boss Ivan Valdez, owner of The Reel Life fishing shop.
Valdez said Brooks recently graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs after majoring in environmental science.

Why would anyone want to work in Russia?

He must have been on a collusion flight.

Don’t know. As for 2014 about 120000 Americans held Russian work permits. The numbers might be shorter these days but that’s many Americans anyway.

Why would anyone ever set foot on a Russian Airliner either! The plane was a Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100.

They've got some great fishing rivers that are pretty much untouched by recreational fishermen.......

"Why would anyone want to work in Russia?" Yeah... That's exactly what I was thinking.. The women...
When you consider the screeching liberal girls in the US nowadays it may be quite refreshing over there.... :)

He was in Russia to be a fishing guide, most likely to wealthy tourists, or to wealthy Russian oligarchs. He was hoping on getting paid for doing what he liked (fishing and teaching fishing) for a while, before heading back to the US to settle down doing some crappy job.
And in the meantime, spend some time dating some hot Russian girls.

As a female with Russian blood, I will say the Russian women can be beautiful. And the slanty eyes like Melania’s are unusual but Eastern European or Russian and I have them too.

Must have been an interesting curriculum.

I did a Florida Keys flat fishing thing on a small boat. The guide said it was his dream job. He quit his good job and went down there. He said it took him a year on his own (no clients) to catch his first fish! Maybe !? He said all of the other guides were quiet about their knowledge.

There is no shortage of fish in Russian northwest. You don’t need to be an expert to pull by dozens per hour.

In Russia, an American man might see some competitive advantages. Russian men have
high rates of alcoholism and Russian median income is low. Russian women might find a visiting American to be a good potential husband.

Realistically and statistically, your chances of not surviving the trip on a Russian flight are orders of magnitude higher that flying INCONUS. That means 1000 times higher! I have not worked the numbers out, but I think this number would be true.

In many ways, Russia has become what the USA used to be.
I would love to work or tour in Russia.
By ground, NOT by air.
You don't have wetland police or other enviro whackos to deal with
You can have a LOT more freedom and fun there in most ways than here.

When I was young, all Russian women looked like Nikita Khruschev. Now that I’m old, they all look like the women in above photo. Just damn...
