Restaurant Owner Refuses to Back Down After Backlash Over Pro-Marine Sticker,

Sales Now Skyrocketing
A sticker at an Illinois hamburger restaurant is getting a lot of attention.

A bumper sticker at Gross Burgers says, “If you can’t read this, thank a Marine.” There is Arabic writing on the sticker.

The owner of Gross Burgers, Brad Gross, says the sticker has been up for YEARS, given to him by a marine who served in Iraq. He’s never had a problem until now.

According to WCIA-TV:

Some say this message is offensive because it makes it seem like there’s something wrong with speaking Arabic–or we are protected from people who speak Arabic because of the Armed Forces.

The backlash has been rather harsh.

According to this:

A customer of the Danville burger joint posted a photo of the sign on Facebook last week, slamming the sticker – which includes the acronym for the United States Marine Corp – as “absolutely disgusting.”

“If you can read it, thank yourself for being a multicultural human and not a xenophobic garbage human,” read one comment on Facebook.

“Come for the burgers, stay for the blatant racism!” wrote another.

Sam Schnelle, the customer who posted the complaint, also called the restaurant, alleging the manager said they would “certainly not” be taking down the now controversial sticker.

He’s standing firm. Brad says it was never meant to be hurtful, and he has no reason to back down.

The owner of Gross Burgers, Brad Gross, says the sticker was not meant to be offensive. “The bumper sticker has been in my restaurant for more than a decade from a Marine that served in Iraq. He brought it in and asked me to put it up, and I said sure go ahead and put it up and it’s been there for all these years,” says Gross. Despite recent flack about the sticker–Gross says a lot of people in the community have still been supportive.

In fact, BPR notes that business has been booming and that supporters have been very vocal:

“It’s not about speaking another language. Be fluent in as many [ways] as you want. That’s great. But the sign is about being under a Muslim law or Sharia law & government that would make us write Arabic and abide by their laws,” one person wrote. “We need to thank our military we are not forced to be under that type of law.”

“Learn the history of the restaurant, Marine owned and operated. Get over it.”

Gross Burgers even apparently sold out of their signature item this weekend, as community members come out to show their support.

So, what do you think? Is the sticker inappropriate? Or is this just another case of Leftists finding reasons to be offended?

Thank You, I try to be as clear as possible so that we don’t have any confusion when I “Go Off” like that.

They buy Me books and try to teach Me to read but I keep eating the pages.

LOL!.

Serious unrelated question from a city boy to someone who might know the question:

How come gun dogs aren’t harmed by gunfire with no ear-pro?
