Here's a new theory: The Democrats are going SO over the top in their response that they are TRYING to get the people sick of this before the backlash starts.
The correct response it see this witch hunt for what it was- a 2 year waste of money - and now search for the people who started it all.

No. Too complicated. The modern era of partisan politics is all about hate. The Dems do everything they do to make sure their base hates the other side and keeps voting for Dems. The GOP does the exact same thing with their base. Partisan politics uber alles. All the “over the top” is just keeping the base energize. I don’t think that’s a new theory. It’s been around. The question is whether it works. I would say that the jury’s still out on that. It’s worked in the past. But that doesn’t mean it will work this time. The problem is that it’s been tried before, and people understand that’s what they are doing. It’s just too transparent for most folks.
They profoundly and fatally mistake the level of determination they have created in their enemies, if they think a bore-a-thon strategy - or any strategy other than admitting error and turning in and on the perpetrators - is going to work for them.
