I got mine about 10 years ago, and a booster later on. No adverse effects.

If you never had chicken pox, you don’t have to worry about shingles...

I got mine.

Shingles tends to manifest during periods of stress. In other words, shingles picks the worst time to pile on.

My mom got shingles when my first child was born. Mom and Dad were coming up from Louisiana, mom with shingles, and our pediatrician said we probably shouldn’t let mom near the child. She was sick!!! In more ways than one. But the doctor ended up changing her mind.

And I understand if shingles manifest in your eye, it can cause permanent damage.

Haven’t researched the stats, but I think it’s a pretty safe vaccine.

"If you never had chicken pox, you don’t have to worry about shingles..."

True, but you do have to worry about chicken pox.

I had the original vaccine when it came out without any adverse effects. My doctor advised that I get the new two-shot vaccine as it’s more effective. I had the first shot almost 6 weeks ago at the local CVS. The only thing that occurred was a tenderness at the injection site, and a slight rash and light itching. No big deal. I’m supposed to call in a couple of weeks to see if they have the second vaccine in stock.

I had chicken pox as a kid so got the vax. I have no idea if it worked but it didn’t hurt.

You should still get the vaccine even if you’ve had CP. helps prevent shingles anyway.

I just received the first shot of a two-shot series. Have to go back in August to get the remaining shot.

My older brother had shingles. It was a mild form but he still had some pain and it was quite bothersome.

Get the darned shot and ignore the anti vax crowd.

"A friend of ours almost lost her eyesight to shingles."

My oldest son had chicken pox when he was in grammar school. Years later he developed shingles near one of his eyes. Thankfully they caught it early and were able to treat it successfully. He now 52, and has to take Humara injections for his arthritis, and can't take any vaccines because the medication weakens your immune system.

I have had shingles and our physician recommended the shingles shot, after one year passed from the initial onset.

The shot is not a preventative, but can lessen the symptoms when there are ever subsequent occurrence(s).

(A $200.00 shot, six years ago.)

A new (last year) shingles vaccine is much improved over the previous one. One in three people get shingles (if you had chicken pox, most people over 40) No one in my family history has gotten shingles. I don’t plan on getting it.

The main concerns about vaccines, even for those who don’t believe the statistics about safety, is on the cognitive development of infants and young children

As such, the effects on a sixty year-old getting a shingles vaccine wouldn’t be a concern for the anti-vaxers.

well, there is a version produced by yeast cells, shingrix. merck’s zostavax uses aborted cell lines.

if you think the risks to you are acceptable, and you think its beneficial, get it.

i just want people to be able to personally decide yes or no, because you cant remove it once its in you.
