Many AR fans love building their own platform and one of the big thing to get if you like drilling the lower yourself, is getting an 80% lower receiver. 80% AR-15 Lower Receivers is a piece that have not yet reached a stage of manufacture to be considered a firearm. The term “80%” is an industry slang and not endorsed/used by the ATF.

I used a drill pres, not a drill bit for milling the first one. You drill out the bulk of the material using a 1/2 inch drill bit, then do the milling work with an end mill in the drill chuck.

My Bridgeport is not a CNC. Milling out a lower all manually is a lot of work, and very time consuming. So much easier to just buy the 80.

Currently on #14. Done handguns, AR15s and other novelties. Current project an Uzi pistol.

Every time some jerk makes noise about passing laws infringing on their ownership/manufacture, I build another one.
