The U.S. House is voting on Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 to impose universal gun background checks. But the fact is, if these rules had been in place, they would not have prevented a single mass public shooting in recent years. Instead, they stop law-abiding citizens from owning a gun, most often poor people and minorities. Everyone wants to stop bad guys from getting guns, but universal background checks is just not an effective way to do that.

Just a question, but with so many minorities who apparently don’t have any form of state ID....how does one go and procure a legal gun with the background check requirement? If you can’t show a legal ID to vote....you can’t pass a background check...right?
And let’s face it, NY’s “stop and frisk” laws are really just gun control.
The basis of the decision is BEHAVIOUR, not the color of skin.

Imagine a gun purchase denied solely on the basis of race. Democrats would have a real problem with that.
Oh, I don’t know. They’d probably just demand equal treatment under the law, and deny everybody.
Stop and frisk is kind of interesting. I compare it to the police just going through a high crime neighborhood and doing door to door searches for drugs and weapons.
That is, it really could make things safer, but it’s unconstitutional as hell!
The phrase, “give me liberty or give me death” comes to mind. Liberty is not “safe”, but that’s not the point. Animals in a zoo are “safe”. That doesn’t mean that is where they all should live. And I’m not sure they are all that happy there.
Minorities misbehave more, so they are red-flagged more often?

Yeah, if voter ID laws discriminate against minorities who can’t be expected to get ID, these same minorities will be deprived of their Constitutional right to own firearms if private sales are outlawed and all sales have to go through a dealer.
This is not an unintended consequence, just an unstated goal. DemocRats have always feared guns in the hands of Black citizens. It’s what the KKK was about, among other things.
I have pulled 7 guns off of 6 felons in the past two weeks. All of them stolen.
