Several Ole Miss basketball players knelt during the national anthem Saturday afternoon, before a game against the University of Georgia that was played about a mile away from a Mississippi pro-confederacy rally. Hundreds of Confederate 901 and Hiwaymen protestors marched through Oxford, Mississippi at the same time the game began, according to Clarion-Ledger reporter Nick Suss, who was live-tweeting the event. Counter protestors joined the march through the University of Mississippi campus, according to Suss.

I understand that there is stil inequality in this country, as long as we have people there will always be inequality. We the people, those of all colors, must recognize that there is inequality. We must always remember the history that got us here, and we use fight non-violent ways to move past to a better place. Kneeling to the flag and symbol of that struggle makes no sense, and disrespects the sacrifice (many who gave so much for that struggle) is wrong. I thank all who fought for this flag, for this constitution, and this ideal of freedom for all. It is obvious that this player doesn’t understand this, doesn’t understand the millions who sacrificed already. Ignorance is the only thing he displayed today.

Following college sports for years I still can never figure out how Ole Miss is always depicted by the left as the most “racist” school out there. What is never explained by them is why would any black student ever go there if those conditions did exist? If the libs are correct one would never see one black student there.

So what if there is a “confederacy” party nearby? Those people represent a minuscule percentage of Americans. Neither the flag nor the anthem represents anything those people are espousing. Actually, the flag represents and is a reminder of the DEFEAT in the Civil War of the Confederacy. There is no better place in the world to live than today’s America. Stand up and enjoy the freedoms and opportunities afforded to you in America!

One of players put out a tweet explaining they meant know disrespect to the veterans so they must be getting some pushback. I been to a couple of Ole Miss football games and it pretty much 3 hour Veterans/Memorial day there might have been a better way to protest.
