That AC video turned out well. With the unsuppressed subsonic 22LR, the steel ringing downrange is louder than the direct report. The camera mic could not really pick up how much louder the 9mm pistol was.

The click of the trigger when the chamber was empty is a good reference, as well. I need to dig out my brick of SSS. I don’t remember them keyholing when I was shooting at 100+ yards.

For their size, you would think they hold a hundred rounds.

The subsonic ammo won’t rack the 10/22 or a pistol.

You will have to manually rack it.

I have taken down several 300+ lb hogs with a .223.

I put the shot in the ear.

Round bounced around in the skull and the pig dropped like a sack of potatoes.

A friend of mine kills farm hogs with 0,177 caliber BB gun headshots. Pigs aren’t near as tough as advertised.

“Pigs aren’t near as tough as advertised.”

Shot placement is key. A .177 pellet isn’t going to penetrate the shoulder or rib cage. Likely neither would a .22. But put one right in the eye socket and down they go.

In fact he shoots between eyes. He says it is their weak point. Have seen the result myself.

Appreciate you guys' insight on this stuff. I've spent a few hours over the last couple of days lookin' in to droppin' the coin on the barrel / ammo / stock. While flingin' the heavy chunks quietly is appealing, 1-1/2" / 2" groups is not.

My reading has led me to the conclusion that the tight chamber in the aftermarket target barrels has as much or more to do with 10-22 accurracy as any other single factor (besides ammo). Green Mountain offers a drop in 16.5" with the tight ("Bentz") chamber. Perhaps that'll get me the sub 1" groups I'm after witout goin' full blown heavy bull / stock combo.

Seems like a fair price. I wonder if anyone makes a 1:9 barrel for the 10/22 Takedown? Hmm.
